Ok I have a G3 ibook recently my screen has lost some of its color quality. When I power up all is fine until the initial screen saver kicks in then it goes to what can only be described as old color settings were the color is all distorted and what use to perfect picture quality. So I struggle to see images and navigate. Please help [email protected] Rgd's Gavin

Step 1.After you come to desktop .right click and then select properties.> then for the color settings it should be 32 bit..you will find that option in the last tab..

Step 2. open 'Run' type dxdiag > after whic a window will open now check all the tabs and set the hardware accelaration to full.

Hope this resolve the issue..

How do you reset power management on the ibook g3

For most situations, a restart is sufficient. If the computer has stopped responding, try these steps, in order, until the computer responds:
  1. Force Quit (Option-Command-Escape)
  2. Restart (Control-Command-Power)
  3. Force Shut Down (press the power button for 10 seconds)
Only perform a PMU reset on the computer if none of the above steps resolved the situation.

My ibook g3 running slow

If you have the original Install CDs that came with the iBook put in Install Disk 1.
When the Menu Bar appears go to Disk Utility (under file manu). Choose your HD and look for the S.M.A.R.T. status. It should be Verified. Then choose Repair Permissions. After that is done choose Repair Disk.

If none of this works find the Hardware Test Disk and run that.

Hi i have a ibook g3 { i just bought it from a friend} i can i restore to a factory settings without a trouble

To restore an iBook G3 to factory settings you need the installation CDs that came with the iBook. Ask your friend to find them. Sometimes you can purchase replacement sets on eBay, but they have to be for your exact model. Please realize that the original installation CDs that came with this iBook will contain OS 9, not OS X, so I question whether you really want to restore this machine "to factory settings." What you may choose to do instead is a "clean install" from a more recent retail OS X CD or DVD.

Starting up

Has the hard drive been replaced yet? Computer hard drives have a 4 year average life. the last g3 shipped in 2002.................The G3 ibook was also infamous for bad logicboards or separated GPUs. Check

! for research only- I take no responsibilty if you turn your failing ibook into a brick or set your block on fire, but I know this technique very well!
