Question about Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW Top Load Washer
Mary, How did this happen? Any sever wash tub swings in Spin Cycle? I don't use this forum for deeper DIY support it's too difficult to find my older post for reference and no editing features. Google this ""FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement"" I support a lot of owners like you and myself at that site. Fixya is OK if you can get help for this TL. Good Luck dh1200s
Google this ""16022808.pdf""
That will you take you to the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual. The SM will take you thru front panel removal. the front panel and the washer top raised are the only access points for the FAV6800A and FAV9800A Maytag Neptune TL's.
JB weld should do it. I would rough up the crack area and place pice of fiber glass mat and resin.

If your machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A here is a pic with the front panel removed. I'm working on preventive maintenance for DC/UC unbalance errors associated with the Clutch Pulley a common failure with this TL..........Good Luck dh1200s

Thank you for the input. The problem is the white round tumbler that has a big crack in it. I removed the tumbler by popping out the center piece and unscrewing the torx screw and then lifting the little center piece out then just lifting the tumbler out of the tub.
The problem is repairing it. I have Bondo, JB WEld, etc, but the best solution I found was to take my soldering iron and basically welding it together. The only problem now is once I sand this down is what can I cover it with (like a clear coating) that will withstand heat, water, pressure? Any ideas? Thank you, Mary
Not sure how it happened. No sever wash tub swings that I know of. Of course it started out as a little crack and progressively got bigger. Thanks again for your time. Mary
Mary,
I do not visit this site very often it's not a good site for DIY folks in my opinion.
You will need a number 20 TORX bit to remove the tumbler screw. You can find replacements on e*bay most of the time.
Visit this site no direct link just Google this Neptune ""TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" go to the 5th post in that repair sticky and you will find a link to the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual. Go to page 37 and the SM will take you thru Tumbler removal.......the SM just forgot to call out the TORX driver size. Post in that forum if you need additional help.......dh1200s
