How old are the batteries in the remotes and keypad? Replace the batteries. If that helps, then you have solved the problem.

If it doesn't help, then check the antenna wire of the opener. (Make sure it is extended down from the unit.) Note this doesn't apply to all garage door openers. (We have several models - some with the external antenna and some without.)

Does your garage have metal walls and metal doors? This can shorten the range between the receiver and the remotes or keypad. An antenna extension may be available.

I don't see the HBW077 as a model number at Sears Parts Direct or Manage My Life. Please check the model and let me know if I can provide any additional assistance. (Sears Parts Direct has parts for my garage door openers. Manage My Life has manuals for Craftsman and Sears appliances.)

I hope this helps.

I save a Sears HBW0777 garage door opener. When I click my remote to open it, it moves for a second then I hear the opener clicking. The same sound when something is in the way of the door. If I hold...

Unhooking the wires disconnected the safety sensors completely. The safety sensors are required to close the door. Both lights should be on, the lenses should be able to see each other clearly, and the wires between the sensors and the opener must be intact, in order for the system to function properly. Reconnect the wires to the opener, adjust the aim of the sensors, ensure there is no debris in the sensor lenses, and if it still doesn't work, you'll need a set of replacement sensors.

I have the door bell style wall button-how do I unlock the unit so the remotes can be synched? I have pressed green button on back of unit with remotes but they won't operate the door.

You don't unlock anything to program the opener for the remotes. If everything is working you do this:

Press and hold the button down on the remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this for each remote.

Have a Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener (HBW0777 year 1994). It won't close and goes back while blinking 8 or 9 times. Transmitting sensor (red light) is blinking 3 times (even i hold the two sensor...

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. If the transmitting sensor light is blinking it is bad.

Sears garage door opener 1/2 hp about 6 years old. Will not respond to remotes to open and close. Light flashes on opener when remote is pressed but no door action.

Door sensors are not working. Check if lights are on both sides.
Might be misaligned or one is bad.
Door will close if you hold in the garge close button until it's all the way down.
And it will open on it's own.
You can get these off ebay.

Remote Control closes garage door but does not open

It sounds like a case of your keypad losing signal strength enough that it cannot transmit through the closed door. If a new battery doesn't do the job a new keypad will.

Garage door opener won't open or close door

The drive gear is stripped. Remove the cover and you can see it just in front of the motor. It is white nylon and the part number is 41A2817. Available from Sears or any good door opener service company. It will come with instructions.

If you look were the small wires attach to the opener there should be a red program button and instructions on how to program remotes.
