I have threaded up my machine and have started to sew. The thread on the back of the fabric keeps catching and bunches up. What's going wrong?

Try a new needle

keep a check on the thread take up lever that the thread doesn't come off of it

rethread the machine to make sure that the thread isn't catching on anything

clean under the needle plate for loose thread or lint & in the bobbin area also

make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly

My thread keeps looping on bottom Have changed tension, needle rethreaded and changed bobbin nothing helps what am I doing wrong?

not sure if this will help you...Check Your Tension Settings. Looping underneath the fabric usually occurs when there is not enough tension in the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. Sometimesthread buching can be caused by something as simple as the tension dial being inadvertently turned.

Start to sew and it doest stitch & fabric gets bunched up on the right looper

I take it this is a serger from the fact you have a looper. Try changing which looper thread is on top when you thread it. Mine jams if they're not done just right. BTW, the easiest way to thread a serger once you've got it once is to tie the new thread to the old and pull it through.

Hope this helps.

Singer 8280 sewing machine tension won't increase

Make sure your needle and tread match your project. There simply isn't such a thing as a "universal needle." Also try lengthening your stitch. Heavier fabrics typically need a slightly longer stitch. Upon commencing to sew always grasp the 2 threads and slightly pull as you begin your seam.

I assume your garage sale find has a manual. Be sure your bobbin is unspooling in the correct direction. If it didn't come with a manual.. http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/430_8280_es.pdf

Good luck.

Top thread bunching under fabric when sewing

tension could be too loose. start with bobbin tension- should allow thread to pass with SLIGHT resistance. then adjust top tension at about 2-3 to start.

Thread is bunching underneath fabric

Needle in correct? Be sure your bobbin is not in upside down and turning the wrong way. Possibly the hook that the bobbicase fits in/on has been hit by a needle and caused a burr that is catching the thread as it comes around. The burr would have to be polished off or hook replaced. The machine could be slightly out of time also.
