Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV19 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

VHS to digital conversion the ghetto way

I just recently bought a Sony TRV19 mini DV camcorder. I was wondering if anyone can think of a creative way using this camera to convert VHS videotape to mini DV. I know it can be done with other models that have this feature. My camera does not specifically have this feature, but I'm sure there's more that one way to skin a cat. Thanks for your input!

The Trv19 has i.LINK™ (DV IN/OUT). So it would be possible to capture your VHS on a PC/MAC and then upload it to the Trv19. I haven't done the upload step to this model, but I've used Dazzle's (http://www.dazzle.com) and Hauppaugge (http://www.hauppauge.com/) capture cards/devices to capture the NTSC/PAL video and audio. From there you upload via iLINK (aka FireWire) to the camera.
