Loud, knocking noises

My Brother HL-5170 prints okay, but makes loud, "knocking" noises in the process. A loose or missing spring, somewhere? Anyone?

Probably the fuser or the fuser drive gear.
The ceramic gear on the fuser usualy breaks first, while the complete gearbox keeps on running breaking the plastic fuser drive gear s well.

To replace a fuser you'll only need to unscrew 4 or 5 screws i guess and disconnect 2 connectors.
To replace the fuser drive gear that's some other stuff.

My John Deere LT 150 automatic has a loud knocking noise when I start it up and rev the engine. I have the motor apart and can't find anything wrong with it.

Loud knocking at engine start is usually loose and/or missing engine mounting bolts. There are generally 4 mounting bolts. Make sure all are present and properly torqued.

Printer HL-3070CW - LOUD Grinding noise when it seems to be running large print offs. It is almost like it gets too hot

My 3070CW makes the same noise. It is caused by the transfer belt. One roller is driven by a cog and this goes fine. The other roller has a tensioner and this roller is making all the noise. While the noise is really loud and annoying - it is completely harmless. Hope this helps.

Brother HL5250DN makes loud squeaking noise while printing. Sounds like crickets chirping.

This is not a problem but it can be early signs of the drum and rollers wearing out. When it does die, I suggest buying another printer.

Printer makes clicking noise when printing

One reason why the cartridge is making a clicking noise is that there is a washer and spring missing from the inside of the cartridge

if this is the case you will need to buy a new cartridge as it can not be solved until the washer and spring are put in

I have an HL-5280DW it keeps making this loud ticking sound when I go to print and it said to replace the drum and I did and it continues to make the loud ticking/popping sound. What should I do?

Take out the drum and toner shut the door and power up, if the noise is still there during the power up short run, you probably need a new fuser. If the noise goes away with toner and drum removed you probably need a new toner. New ones, especially generic toners are too hard to turn and make that noise.
