I know of problems running Vista and Win7 from the same hard drive and it is usually fixed by having Win7 as the main boot on "C" and Vista on "E" a separate partition. The sound drivers are very similar and usually only give trouble when mixing 32 bit with64 bit. Hope this helps
Let me show you what is the problem:
1. You didn't tell us what is your Dell laptop model.
2. You didn't tell us what Windows Vista version do you have. (Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, 32-bit, 64-bit)
3. What happened that led to your laptop not displaying any more any Audio Output devices.
You see, we can't read minds and without all the above information we can't help you.

You try to copy the sound card driver your computer used in vista home. just go to start button then go to run then when the dialog box displayed type dxdiag then as it goes display press audio driver.then you copy the sound driver being displayed. and when you install your xp2 you look for that sound driver been used by the vista home.go to the web if needed.but im sure it is built in xp2.just select it. Good luck.
I checked their website. Did you download the sound driver RAM2080 Win Vista x 86 15.02.2007 version 6.10.5337.0?
If so and it did not work it looks like you'll have to update the BIOS (BIOS update RAM2080 _only_ for MS Windows Vista 14.05.2007 version F0A. However BE VERY CAREFUL and follow the instructions EXACTLY, otherwise you may make the computer unbootable.
