How do I fix my Outlook Calendar synchronization problem?

Palm tech fixed my problem. It turned out some items in Outlook Calendar were corrupted, thus preventing a synch with LifeDrive. The fix is to export the Calendar items and import them. This process fixes corruption. After doing that I successfully synchronized Calendar with LifeDrive. More specifically. I moved Calendar items to a different folder, thus emptying the main Calendar folder. I exported the Calendar items in the new folder to a CSV (Windows) file. Then, I imported that CSV (Windows) file into the main Calendar folder. Finally,I did a synch and all worked perfectly.

Switch from outlook to palm desktop

Remember to change (HotSync, Custom) settings before you perform your sync or else you will get duplicate records as I did. Good luck. Support Knowledge Library Click here to go back Click here to print Solution ID: 25263 Switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop synchronization Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palm™ Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura (find out which). Both of these types of conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your device. What do you want to learn about? * Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits * Switching synchronization: PocketMirror Conduits * Synchronizing partially with Palm Desktop, partially with Outlook * Note about data transfer * Macintosh information * Multiple users on the same desktop computer Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits These instructions apply to the Palm Outlook Conduits that are included with handhelds released after late 2003. The Palm Desktop installer determines which conduits are activated during the installation process. If you want to switch synchronization from Palm Desktop to Outlook, or vice versa, you'll need the original CD-ROM that came with your handheld. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer. A window should open, containing the contents of the CD-ROM. 2. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select "Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits" or "Change synchronization method" (depending on which device you have) 3. Follow the instructions for switching synchroniztion from or to Palm Desktop or Outlook. 4. See our note about data transfer Remember: Some applications will continue to synchronize with Palm Desktop. Use Palm Desktop to manage applications such as Photos and VoiceMemo

Hotsynch manager does not list mail as a synch task

When you first install Palm Desktop, you have a choice of synchronizing with Palm Desktop or with Outlook.

It sounds like you chose Palm Desktop.

You have to uninstall Palm Desktop and Reinstall it.

There will be an option to synchronize with Outlook/Versamail so make sure to choose that.

No synchronization when Outlook express is default mail program

Email synch is based on current MAPI preferences. The problem you have is that the VersaMail conduit assumes your mail client must be the MAPI default email client. You could adopt another profile in Outlook instead of OExpress which picks up the account you use in OE. This is the first instance of this problem I have ever heard of so I doubt if PalmOne would make a software change on this.

Why does pocket mirror trawl through all items when synchronising a calendar

The HotSync software on the Mac was never designed to cope with the scenario where you synch with a PC elsewhere. It assumes that you are performing a recovery synchronization when it sees that the handheld synched elsewhere. The assumption with the Palm OS was always that you synched one computer to one PDA. With more propsperous times, the software has not yet evolved at Palm Source (not part of Palm Inc any longer.) With regards to PocketMirror, there is a setting to allow you to synch to more than one PC. The setting is buried deep in the PocketMirror settings for each of the four conduits. The setting allows PocketMirror to see more than one PC as your route to an Exchange server.

Error Message - "Unsupported Repeat Pattern"

I think the message means what it says. You will have to setup these events manually as individuals to get this event to synch. The message is literally telling you that this repitition style is supported by Outlook but not by the Calendar in your handheld. Another way to go might be to use Chapura PocketMirror conduits instead. It may be more forgiving and be able to deal with this event type. This will cost you however to find out.

Sync fails with "too many open databases"

This is what I did to fix that error:

Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)

After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
