Step 1
Install
the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync
Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the
CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
Step 2
Use
the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of
your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm
Tungsten.
Step 3
Open
the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or
clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available
for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as
one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
Step 4
Turn
on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA.
Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook
Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know
the progress of the synchronization.
Step 5
Unplug
the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As
the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is
available on the PDA.
make sure that you have the Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager 4.1.4E it includes Palm Outlook Conduits. The "E" stands for Extended, meaning that this version of Palm Desktop is intended for devices that have the extended PIM applications.
afterward, use the program PocketMirror to sync your outlook and the handspring device.
You need the CD to get the Chapura PocketMirror Standard conduits.
The conduits for Outlook are not part of the desktop download due to copyright protection. You need to obtain the actual CD by contacting palmOne tech support via phone. They will send you a CD for a small fee.
If you happen to have a Treo 180,270,300 or 600, the desktop software download for these models includes Chapura PocketMirror standard version as part of the download but you need a serial number for one of those products to get the download.
Its the substandard conduits that come with the 650.
Hi - my issues were different than yours, but similar in that bottom line, my calendar data wasn't syncing correctly with Outlook. I've been dealing with this problem for the past 4 weeks. Sprint's technical support was useless, as was palmone.
For 5 years, I have successfully synced my Palm Smart phone to palm desktop at home, and outlook at work - (4 different phones, 4 different companies). It dawned on me - for the past 4 palm devices, I was provided Chapura conduits... The 650 didn't come with them... GUESS WHAT. I bought Chapura Professional XT and all the issues I was having (they were too copious and too weird to go into here) were solved, in one measly synchronization. ALL of them.
Don't wast ANY more of your time... Navigate over to Chapura's website and get one of the conduit programs -= trust me... You'll be glad you did.
Thanks to a fellow user, I was informed that I needed to purchase Chapura software. The following link has the software that does two way sync with BCM. Others don't. I did however have a few problems, but the help desk through Chapura was able to get the process working.
Good Luck.
Are you synching your Palm V with Outlook using the supplied software (Chapura PocketMirror stadard edition)? I have never heard of this error - it is not documented on any website I could find including that of chapura who usually are very thorough.
Hi,
if u want to sync with outlook , u would either have to buy the installiation disc from palm online store or call up tech support , it will cost u, or if you want u call also chapura and buy the outlook conduits from them , u dont get the outlook conduits on the website . In the installiation disc u get the outlook conduits .
Regards
... if you downloaded the version of Palm Desktop available on the palmOne website you cannot sync with Outlook. The web version does not include the Outlook conduits necessary to sync with Outlook. You must use the CD included with any newer palmOne handheld/smartphone or buy a third-party utility (such as Chapura PocketMirror)
