Miele W 404 plus - just over 5 years old.
Started getting various inlet and outlet LEDs flashing - but confirmed they are all clear.
Won't drain properly - now getting drain/ finish LED flashing ...
Any ideas please ?
The filter was badly blocked with grey residue which seems to have built up very quickly over a reasonably short period of time. Note my wife normally checks this regularly and we have not had this problem before.
We haven't changed powder or anything of late.
I have checked all inlets and they are fine. Inlet water pressure is good.
As I said the outlet filter was quite blocked so I cleaned all that and also flushed through all the outlet lines etc, which although had some residue were not too bad.
Nothing else has changed as far as I am aware.
I am just wondering if there is a micro switch or something that has become contaminated or something along those lines.
Any thoughts much appreciated ... The filter was badly blocked with grey residue which seems to have built up very quickly over a reasonably short period of time. Note my wife normally checks this regularly and we have not had this problem before.

is machine plumbed in to a spigot on the sink trap? if so, check the spigot itself as this can become blocked by debris from the sink.
also, to check the pump itself is ok, put water in machine and power the pump direct from mains and see if the flow from the pump is then good.another thought

Inlet / Drain is a general fault meaning there was no water movement when it was necessary to start the pump. Either it didn\'t drain out or it didn\'t fill the last time.
Call 800-999-1360 for free Miele tech support. They will advise you free of charge. You will perform step by step control board operations over the phone to clear the fault code as well as advise you how to cleanout the drain pump.
Just encountered exact same problem - happened after attempting to clean very greasy pans so grease/oil created foam/more or less solid material in filter area, but as well in pressure switch (pn 4859640)
This seems to be the cause (not sure yet)
Have you checked the drain? On mine a small piece of broken glass had got past all the filters and had blocked the paddles of the pump - you have to release the spring clip and take off the top of the pump housing. Miele's seem very fussy about any blockages to the water outlet system.
You then have to hold down the start button to force a restart (cost me a call out to learn that) - but it is stated, sort of, in the problem fixing manual.
this is a general fault light which could mean anything without a Miele Technician coming out and connecting a laptop to the unit. However most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. See what part of the cycle the unit lights up the fault. If it happens at the very start it is the drain. If it drains ok then fails it is the inlet. If it fails after that it could be any number of things. Hope this helps.
complain to miele be a pain they have given discounts on a new one before. try running apple cyder vinager through it pore some in let it run a little then open the door and let it soak for a day or so and then try it again it may just be dirty good luck
When this happens with my dishwasher it usually means that the drain is clogged with food/debris. To fix
1) remove bottom dish rack from machine
2) using a small cup, scoop out as much water as possible
3) remove inlet drain cover and unsnap the plastic insert and remove
4) rinse the plastic part and reinstall
5) start machine
6) if light still flashes, repeat steps 3 4 and 5 and restart
