Scanner problem i have Sharp AL-1540CS. The scanner has just stopped working. when i press the scan button, instead of SC1 that it normally shows, it just gives blanks(---). the photocopier and printer are working fine. help!!!

Do you mean the Sharp AL-1540CS? If so, this unit does not make color copies. It is a monochrome all-in-one laser printer. When you scan a document with the AL-1540CS to your computer, you can print the document in color if you have a color printer.

When [L1-00] appears, the scan head
locking switch is locked. Turn off the
power, release the scan head locking
switch, WAIT 10 SECONDS and turn the power back on.

The scanner does not move - I get an "L" code flashing on the readout - please help???

Could be hardware or software problem. Try following steps in manual ; http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cop_man_ALCSOnlineManual.pdf, if that doesn't work, try scanning from a program, i.e. adobe instead of starting scanner from machine.

Goggle download program for Sharp AL-1540CS. This should take you to a site that will download the program for you. I recently got a new Vista computer and did this to hook up my old printer on it. It worked fine.

Can the machine copy OK if not I think you might have a fauty scanner unit. Try pressing enter or select when asking to scan using SC1 or SC2 see what happens.

On my SHARP AL-1540CS printer 4 and H blinks alternately and none of the buttons except power is working.
