Grainy Pictures Lately I have been looking at my images photographed at 1200X800 and seen they look quite grainy. I have no idea why they have all this grain, I have the sharpness at normal level and the quality set as FINE. The ISO is in auto mode also. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or how I can get better less grainy pictures.

With the iso set on auto mode it will change depending on the light and anything above iso 200 is very bad on this camera i know have the 717 and it does a lot better but if you can set the iso yourself and take it off auto allways use 100 or 200 for low grain.

Grainy pictures and red light flashes.

Hi,

Please clean your lenses and double check that you haven't activated night mode somehow. You can take pictures in different lighting to check if the issue remains consistent.

Thank you.

My Canon SX210 IS is brand new. Just bought it on yesterday. The problem I'm having is that the LCD screen does not look sharp and clear when focusing on a subject. It looks grainy. Can you tell me if...

Some cameras display a grainy picture in low light. Do you have the camera set to the highest number of megapixels and fine image or do you have it set to a lower resolution to get more pictures on the card?

What image resolution should i be using for regular 4x6 prints i have a 10.1 megapixel camera, but my pics still look grainy

Your pictures should not be looking grainy. Are they printed grainy but look clear on your screen. If so then it's just your printer. Try forcing the flash in the highest resolution. If you video's are grainy too then there is possibly something wrong with your camera. Make sure your lens is really clean. Worst case your CCD sensor inside your camera could be bad. Hope not!

I have Nikon Coolpix S4 digital camera. Lcd screen is ok as I can see very clearly all stored images and vedio. But when I want to take photograph the screen become too dem and stores very-very dem images....

It sounds like a problem with the lighting. Digital cameras like that aren't designed for ultra low light performance, so pictures will come out very dark and grainy. It's not a problem with the camera, it is merely a shortcoming.

Quality of pictures when printed are very grainy,

the problem must be because of the resolution dpi value. it does not matter if your image is BIG and looks great on your comp, but if the dpi value (which can be found by Image->properties thru the right-click option) is lower than say 300, the image won't look good on print.

Very grainy pictures indoors at night

If you can adjust the ISO sensitivity to a lower number then the graininess will be reduced.

However, by reducing the ISO, you will need a slower shutter speed and a larger aperture. A tripod, table or other support may be necessary.

The "noise reduction" setting on the camera can also be adjusted a step up.

Taking pictures at full resolution and fine compression will also help.

Overall, at least try lowering the ISO, and using the flash brighter.

Zooming with Olympus Stylus 820

Hey missy0528,
There are a few reasons your images might be grainy, one of which is your image quality is set to low. I would always have the camera set to the highest resolution possible, because you can always reduce the size of an image but you can never make it bigger. Another cause of grainy images in digital cameras is the sensitivity of the camera (ISO) is set to high. Since you are only seeing grainy images when you use the zoom the reason for the grainy images is most likely do to using the digital zoom. All a digital zoom does is crop the image much as you can do in some computer applications, and by doing this you greatly reduce your image quality. I would never use a digital zoom. Your camera has a 5x optical zoom and a 5.6x digital zoom. I would only use the optical zoom. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Grainy pictures

grainy pictures are possibly casued by a very high ISO (sensativity) setting, you should be on 100 or lower for best normal shots. Higher settings are for low light and custom shooting in strange lighting or aperature/shutter speeds. Try full auto setting.

This is not going to get repaired at a sensible price. Check out Kodak Technical support but I think you are looking at replacing the camera
