Turn on camera and system error screen comes up and you cannot do anything to camera.

1st you need to update the firmware to 1.3u
download firmware here
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/americas/digital_cameras/dimage-z/dimage-z3/software_drivers/index.html (this allows 2GB cards)
instructions are here
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/americas/digital_cameras/dimage-z/dimage-z3/software_drivers/firmware/installation_guide.html
(instructions are a little vague on where macro mode button *flower button* is)
Also, you might have a bad SD memory card. format the card (erasing all data/pics on card)
and take some picks and try again.. if you can
If still a system error try a different SD card to get past error then update firmware with THAT SD card.
IF that don't work.... your hosed... ;(

Dimage Z3 System error

plug it in, right click on it in my computer and select format, tick the quick format box and start it up! this will sort it out, i believe the problem is caused by incorrectly disconnecting the camera from a pc/laptop, so when you next disconnect make sure you safely remove it (right click in my computer, select safely remove)

Dimage Z3 self-timer

It is in the Drive mode, the options are single shot, continuous, bracket, and self timer. It is not very clear in the manual but it is on the 1st menu page, page 46. Navigate using the arrow button. The default is single shot. When you set the camera to self timer, after taking the shot, it will return to the previous mode, ie. single shot or continuous. If you always use the self timer, you can reprogram the flash mode button to set the drive mode without going to the menu, page 65 of the manual. If you do not have a manual, you can download here : http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-z/index.html

What are the flash metering modes?

The DiMAGE A1 employs three metering modes; ADI (Advanced Distance Integration) flash metering, Preflash-TTL metering and Manual. The ADI flash metering mode combines distance information from the autofocusing system with information from a pre-flash exposure. On the other hand, in Preflash -TTL metering mode, the exposure is calculated with a pre-flash only. Flash emission control is manually selectable in three levels from 1/1, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16. Pre-flash TTL metering must be used when a diffuser is attached to an external flash or a filter to the lens. Attachment of those accessories may cause error in distance information necessary for ADI (Advanced Distance Integration) metering due to reduced entering light. While manual output control is active, pre-flash will not burst.
