SOURCE: Install Boston Acoustic speakers BA7800 to a new Imac?

Partial Solution anyway - I just got a Mac Pro (2.66 Nehalem )and couldn't find the manual from my old Gateway 700XL. This is what I did: Plug the green wire into the analog output, and the pink wire (if you really need an external mic, but you shouldn't since our new computers both have a built-in mic) into the analog input. Just ignore the black wire. You won't have the 2 surround speakers, but I'm still looking for a fix for that. I got tired of the crappy speakers in my new Apple Cinema display (the ONLY crappy thing about my new system). As you know, the sound from the BA7800 is great, even with just the two front speakers and sub-woofer. I'll keep you posted if/when I figure out how to set up the surround speakers! Likewise, if you hear something, please post here and I'll keep checking back.

The BA 735 speakers that came with the old Gateway I have does not work with the new iMAC

The BA 735 Speakers I have are purely digital and will only work if your soundcard has a digital output, will not work through analogue connection.

BA7500g speakers won't work with my mac

I have the same problem except i'm using a macbook and i'm trying to connect the speakers. My macbok accommodates optical digital audio output, but you have to buy a  a standard toslink cable with a toslink mini-plug adapter.  Since the speaker input is a digital coaxial (not fiber, optical) you have to buy a Digital Fiber Optical (Toslink) to Digital Coaxial (S/PDIF) Converter.  good luck. hope this helps

My BA7500g digital speakers don't work with my iMac

They only work for a digital signal. Mac's like nearly all other normal speaker outputs, put out an analog signal. So they'll work with a computer that puts out a digital signal.

Boston Acpustics BA745

you cannot plug the phono jack directly into the motherboard, there needs to be another piece that you can add, it has a yellow speaker sticker that you install into the computer, onto the motherboard. it is not an add-on card, but an accessory you can buy. this is because the speakers are self-powered, meaning that they need power from the motherboard instead of an AC adapter
