Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a kenmore portable air conditioner. It was given to me so I don't have much info on it. When we use it we have water on the floor after we shut it off. We have ruined the rug . We replaced the rug with vinyl flooring and we don't want to ruin it. my water trough never has any water in it. I cannot fiqure out why. We have blown into the tube from the back of the conditioner and in the little holes where it is suppose to go into the trough. there is a tube that connects to a spout above the trough and the other end of the tube has a black plug in it and lays along side of the trough. why is it leaking out of the bottom of the unit and not into the trough. Is this condensation from the unit or is something not connected right.

It from all you said, it sounds like it's condensation dripping from the cooling coils. They are probably dirty and therefore the condensation is not evaporating like it should. Also, the air intake filter may be dirty or clogged.

Since you don't have an owner's manual, locate the model number of your unit and then go online to Sears Parts Central. Armed with the model number you will be able to locate the Owner's Manual and download and print it for future reference. It alone, will prove invaluable.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I was also unable to find a manual through any of my many searches, however either of these two links may provide some general, generic assistance, given similar items. Hopefully you may find something useful:

Water leak from Electrolux Kelvinator EPK09CRN2A portable air conditioner

You'll have to open it up and check for a displaced condensate collector. This may look like a funnel with a drain tube that is supposed to go to the tray

The model number you listed didn't come up for Kenmore. However, the similar Danby model's Owner's Manual may help you. You can download and print it for future reference.

How to drain the air conditioner commerical cool portable

Janie, since you didn't mention what brand and model number portable AC you have, I can only give you general directions.

On most unit's the drain plug is on the rear of the unit just above floor level. Some have a short section of vinyl hose that can be attached to assist in draining the water in to a pan or bowl. Others don't. However, you can use a low sided pan of bowl that will hold at least 1 quart of water and drain directly into it. Be sure the unit is turned OFF and unplugged, before attempting to drain the water. The other option is to disconnect the exhaust hose(s) and roll the unit to a floor drain or outdoors to drain it.

I have an kenmore elite A100E portable air conditioner. I have two questions; 1- It drains water from the back pipe outlet which makes my floor wet. How to collect this drained water to stop it damaging...

Yes is does work as a dehumidifier, when it's in dehumidifier mode. Using just the AC mode, will slow up the collect ion of water some. However, the tank will still need to be drained occasionally. There are 2 ways to train the tank.

1. In to a low sided pan or bowl, capable of holding at least 1 quart of water.

2. Roll the unit to a floor drain or outside to drain the bucket.

I have a portable air conditioner model LP0711WNR. My issue is when I drain the air conditioner, it only drains about one cup of water. Then, when I turn it back on it and use it, after about an hour it...

The easiest way, is to tilt it over slightly when you drain it. But, be very careful doing this, as the unit has caster wheels and you don't want it to get away from you. If you have a helper, so much the better. Remember to always turn the unit OFF & Unplug it, before draining the water from the tank.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kenmore portable air conditioner Model 484.35338 serial no AP0000320252 made in spain code X5RKMFE709/01 quit running after 4hrs run. DRAIN WATER light is on. How is the water drained?

The drain plug is on the rear of the unit, just above floor level. You can either drain it into a low sided pan that can hold a least a quart of water. Or roll it to an area, where you can allow it to just drain. If you drain it in place into a pan, be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before draining the water.
If you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, you can get one online from Sears Parts Direct.

Hello, I need the hose to drain water outside that fits the fridgidair portable air conditioner #FAPO9EP1Z1. Is there another small tube or is there any other hoses or vents that I need? I don't see...

impreston - with out the following parts , you really don't have "just the air conditioner."

1- Flexible Exhaust Hose
2- Hose Adapters
1- Sliding Window Kit
1-Foam Window Seal
1-Remote Control

The drain hose is something you supply. A garden hose, no longer than 5 feet will do if you want it to be a continusos drain, rather than drain into the water collectiong bucket. But, without the first 4 items lister above, you won't be able to operate the unit.

Here is a link that may be of some help to you, since you don't have an Owner's Manual.
http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Edison/2020252a0373en.pdf

You will beed to contact Frigidaire (1 -800-374-4432 ) for the parts you're missing.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.
