I took my new Epson PhotoPC 3000Z digital camera to my work today to try out with studio lighting equipment as external flash method. I hooked up a 20 foot sync cord between Speedotron power pack and hot shoe on my 3000Z. It won't flash at all. I switched to my old Vivitar 283 flash unit to checking it and it did flash and work fine. Do you think 20 foot pc cord is too long to trigger the power pack?!?
I've used my Epson PhotoPC 3000Z with a Bowens studio flash unit with approximately a 15 ft. synch cord; and I've had no problems. I suspect a faulty connection somewhere.

You also may have a faulty hot shoe adapter or pc cord. Check them with an ohm meter, or with an old 35 mm camera. Or just short out the hot shoe contacts with a piece of metal and see if the strobes flash.
