Question about Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC

Palm data and ActiveSync

I'm new to pda's so please forgive me if this has been asked alot. I just got a Treo 300 which I love. I currently have an Axim on order. I would like to use both PDAs with the same set of data (calendar, contacts & todo info) but want to continue using my Treo as my main PDA. Partially because I prefer using the Palm desktop over Outlook. Will the Axim be able to sync with my Palm Desktop? Or do I really need to switch to Outlook? I believe Lotus Organizer can sync with both platforms. I would like to hear from others who need to sync the same data to both Palm & PocketPC.

You can't get a Pocket PC to sync with Palm desktop. You do have options though. Install Outlook and Pocket Mirror from your Palm CD, then sync both your PPC and Palm to Outlook.

You won't be able to do that. Lotus Organizer as well as Lotus Notes and OutHook are PIM some plus e-mail, just like Palm Desktop is a PIM. So you can have the Treo sync with Lotus Organizer AND have the Axim sync with it also it is because there are conduits buit for them. There is a middleware that allows both to talk to one. Now if you can find a piece of software out there that will sync a PocketPC with Palm Desktop, I'm sure a lot of Palm converts would love to know that.

How to erase all contacts at once

Honestly... your best bet would be to perform a hard reset... then sync with the computer again...  To performa hard reset, hold the power button down and press the reset button under the battery door,... The phone will ask you if you want to 'Erase All Data?'... press UP on the navigation key or press the volume up key...

When it is done waking up and you have calibrated the screen and such, you can use activesync again to restore your old data.

ANY DATA NOT BACKED UP BY ACTIVESYNC WILL BE LOST

My palm treo 700w activesync 4.5 continually syncs

The computer doesn't know if you have made changes or not... until it talks to the device... so, instead, how about shutting down ActiveSync or changing the connection settings so that it can only sync when you want it to.

My palm treo 700 wx won't sync

Try uninstalling the Microsoft Activesync. The Palm website offers the newly, innovated Activesync software available for your device. I would recommend reinstalling Microsoft Activesync from this support site.

If you have not tried it yet try this!
1). Press the reset set button on the back of the Palm.
2)This is a little bit more memory destructive and you might want to back up you data cause it will wipe out everything!
hold down the power key and press the reset button!

Contact list to memory stick

Instead of loading all of your contracts onto your memory stick, why don't you connect your treo to your computer and ActiveSync all your contacts to Outlook, and when you get your new phone, and just have to ActiveSync again and all your contacts will be there. Hope this helps.
