Try removing your AGP card and enabling the onboard graphics again. It is possible your Radeon is a 3.3v, but this board only supports 1.5v cards. Take a look at the manual at ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GERG2/BV2RG2_English.pdf

My n1996 onboard display card doesnt displsy any more, can i use an another AGP CARD

Your board has S3 graphics and if you would like to try and find drivers for that this is MSI's link;
http://www.msi.com/service/download/
I don't know what version of windows you are running and/or what the exact problem is with your graphics however, to answer your question, Your card will accept AGP 8X, 4X cards and, as long as you have an operational slot open, yes you can use AGP cards. If you have upgraded to Windows 7, you can find cards that have Windows 7 support.

Hi, I have a msi n1996 865gvm3-v motherboard and it doesn't want to pick up my sata drive, what to do?

If you are trying to install Windows XP and it does not detect the SATA hard drive.
The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

I have an msi ms-7390 k9n sli ver 2 motherboard and I updated the bios to the latest ver. 1.2. After that when cold booting the motherboard does not initialize usb you have to press delete to enter setup...

move the sata connection for your bootable HDD to another port like 3 or 4 and the bios will detect then run bios setup to boot from the sata 3 or 4 and it works like normal, must be a bug in sata 1 and 2. had same issue trying to install win7 x64. Win 7 refuses to detect sata DVD drive, moved it on the MB and it installed fine.

Motherboard won't recognize SATA DVD drive.

make the dvd your 1st priority in bios for boot, if it cannot be recognized try taking the floppy cable out of the floppy drive, maybe you have a problem with your power supply

A new sata LG dvd room,it work correctly, but i can't boot from it

First make sure that the DVD drive is the only drive listed to be booted from. Make it the first and only drive. Unfortunately most motherboards have an issue with booting from a SATA DVD drive. Secondly turn off Sata RAID if you have it. If this doesn't work then your motherboard isn't capable. It is too old and from what I can tell from the manual it is running SATA 986p, which is only 150mp/s thats not even Sata 1.5. Early Sata controllers couldn't do installations of OSs at all.

In your bios change the settings for boot order,

1: DVD Rom
2: n/a
3: n/a
4...
5...
6...

This will force a boot off the only drive available which is the dvd rom.

Windows won't load or instal

Freezing of computers occur mostly due to shortage of RAM. But in ur case, 1GB is quite enough for XP. Since ur computer is freezing b4 even starting up, thus it could be a problem of disk drives.check if more than 1 drive have been alloted MASTER (Primary) or otherwise same priority. If u have more than 1 HDD, then the one in which the Opering System is installed should be given the Master Primary and the other as Cable select/slave. Likewise do it for the CD/DVD ROM or RAM (the CD/DVD RAM should be alloted the master and ROM as the slave). It can be done by the JUMPERs on the back of the Drives. See the exact setup on the drive surface.
