PDA screen? Dell Axim has the color transflective TFT dissplay. Some other PDA's on the market come with Color reflective screens. I'm just wondering if there is a difference between the two, and if so which is the better one. Maybe one is brighter and clearer?

Reflective LCDs do not have a backlight, because of this they can be difficult to use in some lighting situations. The Transflective LCD can be read while unlit, by ambient light, but it also has a backlight, which makes it better in low light situations.

ok, i see your problem.You could clean the screen of your pda using a business card. Gently, wipe the corners of the screen. This is the best way as unresponsive screens occur due to lack of attention as dust migt be trapped under the screen.Hope this works.GOOD LUCK

Does not recognize my connection for active sync

Dell made an entry into the market of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) with Axim X5. The Dell Axim comprises of families of X5, X3, X30, X50 and X51. The Dell Axim PDA can be connected to the computer either by using a cradle or a sync cable. The sync cable connects the device to the computer directly. Here are the steps for connecting a Dell Axim to a computer using a sync cable.
  1. p 1 The Microsoft ActiveSync software must be installed in order to connect the PDA to the computer. This software is found in the Dell Axim Pocket PCmag-glass_10x10.gif Companion CD.
  2. Step 2 The Axim X51 PDA has a 36-pin connector, while the X3 has a 22-pin docking connector.
  3. Step 3 Connect the USB connector found at the end of the sync cable to the computer.
  4. Step 4 Check the PDA. If the PDA is not properly cabled to the computer, you will get the following message: “Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure that ActiveSync is installed on the computer and that the ActiveSync connection is successful.”
  5. Step 5 Ensure that the Dell logo faces upward.
  6. Step 6 Use the sync cable to set up a partnership, which can be done multiple times when you sign in as a guest.

Reverse screen problem

There is no software that I am aware of that can be use to correct this. Try reinstalling your firmware. Make sure you do a backup as all memory info will be erased.

Doesn't go past start-up screen

when started and on the blue screen hold the power button down shutting it off restart it and a black screen pops up go down to start in safemode with networking that should work

Annoying high pitch noise coming from devise

I believe that this has involves the processor, and maybe the refresh rate (or the T E2's equivalent) being faster than the screen would like.

You could get original disk from ebay at times but all you need is the Activesync that can be downloaded from Microsoft. Get Active sync 4.2. The newer ones do NOT work with the X5.

Good luck with the wireless card. The Axim does not play well with many of them. (sometimes works but mostly not) Try drivers from d Link and be sure to remove the old drivers first.
