Epson 850Z diopter adjustment

When I tried to change the viewfinder diopter control, it seemed very stiff and ineffective. After reading more in the manual I saw the warning not to attempt this adjustment with the power off. The camera must me powered up before changing the diopter adjustment. Now, after turning on the camera, the diopter control seems just as bad. I suspect I may have damaged it. The lack of a diopter control does not bother me, but it may be connected with some more important mechanism. Any opinions?

I did the same thing with the diopter, but no damage seems to have come of it. It does feel very stiff and 'clicky' anyway, but it does work. You will only be able to notice any adjustment to the diopter when the camera is on.

Diopter focus viewfinder

The diopter adjustment control is just above the viewfinder. See page 23 of this manual: http://www.fixya.com/support/p154048-pentax_zx_30_35mm_slr_camera/manual-2619

I have an old Epson 850Z digital SLR with a stuck shudder. Can it be repaired?

It's ancient, worthless and totally obsolete. Spare parts will be impossible to obtain. Repairs will be completely uneconomical if you have to pay for them in any way (parts or labour).

In short, you have absolutely nothing to lose by trying a DIY repair, and even if it fails (highly likely) you gain valuable experience for when you next attempt such a repair.

BTW: the Epson 850z is not an SLR. The optical viewfinder does not take it's image from the same lens used to take the picture.

There's a diopter control near the viewfinder to adjust the viewfinder to your eye. Try adjusting that while peering into the viewfinder and try to get the focus brackets and the data at the bottom of the viewfinder into focus.

U have a Canon dos rebel cd, and the light meter and everything in the viewfinder is blurry, has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it

There should be a diopter adjustment control near the viewfinder. Try adjusting that while looking into the viewfinder.

If that doesn't do it, please feel free to reply to this post, specifying the exact model of your Canon Rebel.

I have a Cannon EOS Rebel xsi SLR camera. When I look through the viewfinder the image is blurred. IT worked fine the last time I used it, but this time it is blurred and I haven;t been able to correct...

Two possible situations. It might be that the lens focusing system isn't working. Try focusing by hand (turn the lens manually) If the image moves through a point of sharp focus, then you have a lens or focus motor problem.
More likely, you have improperly adjusted the diopter. There is a small, circular wheel on the right side of the viewfinder, toward the top corner. It is sometimes covered by the rubber viewfinder hood so you might not notice it. This adjusts the diopter correction in the viewfinder and if it's set wrong, nothing will ever look in focus. The pictures would be fine, but since the diopter is a correction for your eyesight, the viewfinder will be out of focus.

The electronic viewfinder will not focus. Photo results, however, are properly focused. LCD properly focuses, but I prefer to frame my pics using viewfinder. What's the fix?

Next to the viewfinder ther is a diopter adjustment so you can change the focus in the viewfinder. this is so if you need glasses the camera can be set for you. Start by focusing the camera on something, then slide to turn the diopter adjustment until it looks sharp and try not to bump it.

Can't see symbols in viewfinder of a Pentax ist dl.They are completely blurry and unreadable

There's a diopter adjustment lever just above the viewfinder. Adjust it while peering through the viewfinder. This may be easier if you remove the rubber eyecup.

For further details see the "Adjusting the Viewfinder Diopter" section on page 39 of the manual.
