Camera Freezes Up

I just bought a C5060WZ a couple of days ago, and noticed that it frequently shuts down by itself while reading the Compact Flash Card in the Pay-Back mode. Battery is fully charged when this happens. Usually, the only way to regain control of the camera is by switching it off and on. However, sometimes it freezes up, and the only way to regain control is by taking the battery out and back in. Doing a slide show with this camera is impossible. I'm using a Kingston 512MB CF. The camera's firmware is v756-81, which I believe is the latest one. Any ideas what may be causing this problem? Thanks.

Sounds very much like a faulty camera. Check that all controls are as they should be, then if it persists your best bet is to have it replaced under warranty.

Hi, I bought a Samsung ST30 a couple of weeks ago, and have only been using it one evening so far. A couple of days ago I was about to use it again, but I noticed that it had runned out of charge, so I...

Hi.

The camera is obviously faulty and needs to be returned to the manufacturer or the store for replacement or repair. The warranty will cover any cost so will be done free of charge.

You have every right to be angry as it is brand new.

CONSTANT FLASHING CF LAMP NIKON D300

Hi,

Am afraid that it is an internal hardware problem. Chances are that the electronic trigger that fires the flash has shorted out and is therefore making the flash work even with the camera off. Since this would involve electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a low wattage soldering iron or even a hot air blower, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional. Often even if you can actually open the unit for a look and see of the trigger/flash module, replacement part availability would be a major concern.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

When we try to review it come up "read Error" and dose not let us. also the flash stays on force flash, also wont shut off and freezes up . this all started last night we bought it a month ago...

Sorry, I do not see any firmware updates that apply to your flash situation, but I do see one that seems to apply to your picture review situation:
Please read the firmware update instructions and follow them carefully. Errors during firmware updates can ruin your camera:

I have a Canon EOS 350D, Compact Flash card freezes my computer

Instead of connecting via the camera, just use a USB card reader and put the CF card in that.

Camera won't stay turned on

Format the SD memory card.
Get the 5 volt charger and charge 3 hours.
Format the internal memory.
Menu button and change to power save.
Do not use the flash all the time.

Formatting problems

Try formatting the card on a computer than again on the camera. If you don't have success formatting the card with a computer than it is a pretty sure thing that there may be something wrong with the card.

Battery life

I bought this type of camera a few months ago.  Instantly I noticed that is wears down batteries.  I would not get to take a lot of photos if I was on a vacation trip.  I have to keep the two batteries on a charger if I wanted to take many photos.  This is disappointing.  I have no solution for you.  However, if someone does have a solution, I, also would like to know it.

The camera shuts down without giving any warning. Is the camera defective?

Such a symptom may occur because alkaline batteries have a characteristic that reduces the capacity sharply during use. The DiMAGE 7 is designed to have a margin before it shuts itself down even if the battery is exhausted while saving the capture image data to a Compact Flash. The data will not be lost. Because it consumes more power than other Compact Flash cards for operation and data storage, users of IBM Microdrive must use Nickel Metal Hydride cells.

E100 Memory

I just bought a 1GB compact flash card and I was really amazed how fast they are. Lexar has them with 80x speed.
