Check to make sure your images are on the card, and not stored in any local camera memory. If the computer does not recognize the SD card (if used) and asks to format it, then try another computer to see if it can read the card. Finally, if the camera uses a cable, make sure the computer recognizes the camera when plugged in. When the camera is recognized, you should be able to directly view and download images from the camera. Make sure you note where the images are stored on the computer.
Use usb cable to attach camera to computer and then go to My Computer and Download images to Computer.
You can Also print photos by directly attaching to printer.
Find out where "Canon Camera Window" points to for its default pictures Folder and change that path or create a Folder in the location where it is pointing to ... It seems to be directing the pictures to a non-existing Folder !
Immediate solution is to buy a card reader and use it to download all images via your USB port. I suggest using Picasa3 (free software from Google) for the downloading and organization of your images, but other software works as well. Direct camera to computer download have been a longstanding problem as computers change (e.g. vista) and camera software doesn't.
in some cases we have found that if there is a virus on the card and if you try to read it directly on a computer having anti virus activated, the computer shows card as a blank. As the camera software is not effected by the window based virus, it can read the data. Try connecting the camera to the computer via USB. As the widows xp or higher versions do not require drivers or the camera software to be loaded to recognise the camera you can directly transfer the data from your card.
Hey ikpoole, What you need to do to transfer your images to your computer is first make sure you have installed the software that came with the camera on your computer. Make sure the camera is off and connect your camera to the computer using the USB cord that came with the camera. Turn the camera on and your computer should detect the camera and ask you what program you want to use to download your images, and select the EOS Utility. Your images should now download to your computer. Another way to download your images would be to use a card reader that supports your type of memory card and plugs directly into a USB port. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
1. use a (usualy supplied) data cable... normaly a USB cable... it connects to your computer/laptop , Use a Photo utility program to "find" the camera. You should be able to view the pics stored in the camera.
2. If the camera pics are stored on a sim card then simply put that card in a multi card reader... (very inexpensive to purchase and standard on some late model PC's) and in most cases you can pull the pics directly from the card.
3. Take the camera directly to walmart or walgreen's photo station and they usualy can pull the pics directly from it.
give me some more info and I maybe able to give detailed help...
mod# of camera and what model/make of your PC.
Having same issue as above - I thought it was my cable so I ordered a new one. The camera attempts to 'speak' to the pc - and then the Windows box pops up not recognising the USB installed device....I also uninstalled and reloaded the Canon software (had camera for 18 months and only started this rubbish a month back) - was about to re-laod my entire PC - thankfully I saw it was not only me.
Will send mine in for a Firmware update / service.
you can load images onto a card via a card reader, but not directly to the camera.
Also images that have been through an editing process in the computer will have been altered so as to be unreadable in the camera- if you were thinking of using the camera to view via a TV for example
Yes and no. Although you cannot directly attach the camera to a USB port, you can purchase an Olympus USB SmartMedia Reader that will facilitate the transfer of images via a USB port.
