WHEN I PLACE A SHEET TO FAX OR COPY IT LOADS THE PAPER AND THE BAR ON
THE SCREEN COMES UP AND THEN IT JUST STALLS AND DOESN'T WORK. TURNING
IT OFF IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT.
IT STILL FAXES DIRECT FROM THE COMPUTER AND PRINTING IS NO PROBLEM.
My 6210 has the same problem with copy, fax, or scan. It doesn't matter if the source document is placed into the feeder or directly on the glass. It also gets the same results using HP Director or the buttons on the all-in-one. When trying to copy/scan/fax the printer display will read Scanning or Coying, etc. and the bar will begin on the left of the display. That's all that happens. No errors. I've waited 10 minutes with nothing more happening. Pressing the Cancel button will not clear the display. Powering Off will send a blank sheet of paper to the printer output. Powering back on shows no errors on the printer display. The display appears as if the printer is fine.My 6210 has the same problem with copy, fax, or scan. Does the All-In-One make a loud noise and then stalls.
If it does then it should also give a message as Scanner Failure.
Take out both the cartidges from the All-In-One and unplug the power cable directly from the All-In-One and move the carriage (carriage is the on which hold the cartridge) Too and Fro unitill you feel it is moving freely, Then insert the ink cartridges and close the access door, And plug the cable directly to wall outlet without surg protector, and before connecting the power cable to the printer press and hold the # and No 6 keys, without releasing the keys insert the power cord and after you see a window which says semiful reset you can release the keys.
And in case the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power On, on the All-In-One.

try and make a copy with the fax... if it comes out the same way... turn the paper face up if it was face down or vice versa and try again... if it works then fax the same way and see what happens... if all goes well then keep copying and faxing that way... if that works but fax does not work... print an internal report... if that does not print then you have main board problems... if internal prints print then you have a problem with your ccd... thats a big long strip that rests right under the keyboard... thats what does the scanning... if that is bad... then when you fax... or copy it will be blank or black... depending on what is blown on it...
Have you tried replacing the ribbon cartridge? If that doesn't resolve the problem, then there is a fault with the thermal imaging head. You did say both Recieved faxes and copies, correct? If faxes you send out are clear, then the above mentioned would be correct. Let me know, please.
It sound like the paper is not getting recognised by the original sensor. Check for an obstruction in the feedpath - piece of paper, paper clip, pin, cockroach, apple core, tube of cake decorator (I've seen it all). Do this by opening the control panel cover (the one you open when you replace your cartridge and look through where the original feeds. Also see if the original sensor arm is in place. In the white plate there will be a black arm. The original sensor arm will be directly behind this sensor.
You could try opening the feeder and clean the gray rollers with mentholated spirits and see how that helps as it just maybe the rollers are slipping slightly.
Once you have done the above take out all of the paper from the back feed and using one sheet blot the leading edge with some spirit and place back into the machine (The back of it) then try coping something there will be a paper jam and do this a couple of times. Once you have done this wipe the area dry put new paper in and then try doing a copy and the paper should feed perfectly now and the test will come when fax comes in.
you place the paper in the same place as if you were faxing and the paper it's printer in the rear most carrier, but one press of the button indicates you want one copy, pressing it again should then do one copy.
If its reduced in size during transmit or copy then simply place a letter size document in the feeder and close the two sliders up to the sides of the paper. If you don't close the slider up to the paper it will go into auto reduction
