It's most probable that your lamp is busted, since the tv didn't went out completely. Replace the lamp and you'll be fine :)

My tv's picture just went kaboom! We have wonderful sound but sadly no picture. : ( Please help me turn my frown upside down! Thanks so much!

First of all I would contact the company and see if there is a recall on the set as this sounds dangerous and could burn someone's house down. If there isn't a recall I would request one be open at http://www.cpsc.gov/about/contact.html You may save someone's life by doing so. As for the TV it can be a number of things. If there is a recall the TV should be fixed by the manufacturer for free. If not get a quote from the local repair shop and see if it's even worth fixing or just buying a new one (OF A DIFFERENT BRAND) lol. Also please include the manufacturer and the model# next time you ask a FixYa question.

Wife was watching tv and the picture went out. We currently have direct tv for the service provider. Tried watching a dvd and had the same result. However, sound works on the tv just no picture.

I would start by obviously checking all connections on the back of the tv. Sounds like maybe your Yellow RCA cable might have creeped out. Red and White RCAs are typically for sound and Yellow is for Video. Hope this helps

I have a Philips Plasma tv 42pf5321d/37 with sound but no picture

Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.

TV or Satellite Box Problem?

Do you have a VCR or DVD recorder? If yes, set it to record what you are watching. After a "blackout" rewind the tape and review it. If there is a blackout on the tape, the problem is the sallite box, if not, it is the TV! QED
