Question about Olympus Camedia C-5060 Wide Zoom Digital Camera

AC Adapter Question

I have recently purchased an Olympus C5060, and am trying to learn all its features on a daily basis. I thought it would be a good idea to use an AC adaptor in order for the camera?s battery to last longer. I have searched for information online to know whether I could use a universal AC adaptor, as opposed to an Olympus one - as indicated in the camera?s manual. Since I could not find it anywhere online, I decided to try using a universal AC adaptor but with no sucess. The Volts available on it are 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 & 12. The C5060 requires a 6.5V AC input. Does anyone know why it is not working? is it a MUST to use an original Olympus AC adaptor? I am located in Spain, if this may affect the answer... Any help is appreciated.

Check the polarity. Having a 5060 (fabulous camera in my opinion) I chose to buy a couple of extra batteries rather than go the adapter route. They are cheap at eBay, Tiger Direct and other places (I don't know what's available to you in Spain) , and give you added backup for a heavy day or two of shooting.

The C 5050 is what I have. It uses 6.5 volts DC input not AC. The polarity is positive center, negative surround. I am not sure whethere your universal is delivering that. Are you sure. Can you measure same or have someone tap the output and check it out? Is the plug area contaminated in some way? Good luck.

I have an Olympus VG-16 and it has just recently started to play up. I have had it for at least 2 years and it's used on a daily basis. When I go to power it on the lens opens and closes twice and then...

This could be the auto focus sensor that is not working that why the lens comes out and goes back twice. The other thing it could be is the range on the lens is not enough and it wont reach full extension. I would send it in. www.precisioncamera.com
