I'm not sure that this will be a once a for all answer, but the link below says that any device with an sd slot can handle mmc but devices with slots designed exclusively for MMC cannot handle SD. Since the axim has an SD slot, I would say that it is compatible with MMC although I haven't tried an MMC card and the manual doesn't specific mention MMC memory.

I cant open my sd/mmc card reader and writer.

Some SD and MMC have a security feature in them. If so you will need the disk that came along with it. After you install it then that's the time you can fully utilize your SD/MMC. SD means Secure Data / MMC means Multi Media Card.
If your card reader is not appearing in the My Computer then check if it is detected in the Windows device manager. Go to START > CONTROL PANEL > DEVICE MANAGER. Usually it is under the category of Disk Adapters or Human Interface Device. If it's not present then unplug and plug the device back in. Or try a different USB port to see if that will work. If it doesn't then most likely the reader is defective. But if it is detected and still not able to read the SD/MMC and the SD is being read by a different computer then the issue could be that the SD is not compatible with the reader.

Memory card compatibility. camera won't read or format PNY Optima SDHC 4GB.

Hi,

I am sorry to say that the C875 is not compatible with SDHC cards. Only SD or MMC cards.
You can get SD cards up to 2GB.

This is not unusual in cameras of a few years old.

Hope this helps.

Inserting either a 4Gb or 8Gb SD card results in a "Memory Card Error".

The S4 accepts SD and MMC cards. SD cards max out at 2Gb. The 4Gb and 8Gb cards are actually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards, not SD cards, and thus will not work in devices designed for SD cards. Compatibility goes only one way--SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

Speed of CF vs SD in Axim

The reason CF COULD be faster is that it is a parallel connection (16bit IIRC) while SD/MMC is serial in nature. Now, assuming the INTERFACE were the limiting factor in the speed this could become significant. Unfortunately the interface is NOT the limit (in most cases), the limit is the actual fetching of data from the memory itself. Being Flash it is nowhere near as fast as some of the other types of memory we are used to. It is especially slow when being written to. Newer cards out there are faster then older ones, but in the end I doubt you would notice much if any difference between the speed of a CF versus an SD/MMC card

EM-500 memory question (new user)

You can use any brand whatsoever. If you are concerned about compatibility - a genuine problem with some manufacturers - you might consider buying from a retail outlet & test it out on the device itself. Casio uses either Toshiba or Hitachi cards so that would be your best bet.
