If your using a USB hub, unplug another device (i.e printer or scanner, fax, etc.). Plug in your One Touch. Then turn off your pc and turn it back on. This should work.
If you use a alot of USB devices, you may need to get a USB Power Hub.
You can try an plug in the One Touch straight to the pc and unpluging all other usb device except the keyboard and mouse.
Let me know if this helps. You also may need to move the ac power to another outlet.

What exactly is happening? Does this mean the external hard drive has too much stuff to read? or is there something wrong with my external hard drive?

Hi there i hav ea maxtor onetouch 4 mini 120 gb.

Remove the hard drive from the Maxtor case, purchase an USB hard drive adapter case, and install the hard drive inside this case. Then you can connect this to the computer's USB port and if the hard drive is OK then this computer will detect it as an external USB hard drive, then you can open the folders and files and back them up.

Maxtor OneTouch III Mini not appearing on MacBook Pro

Hi Lois,
If your Maxtor appears in Disk Utility but the disk volume is not displayed, it's possible that the partition on the disk has been deleted for some reason. If that's the case, you will have to use a disk partitioning utility to create a new partition and then format the hard drive.
Best wishes,

Need drivers for a Maxtor 80GB Onetouch III Mini edition

I have a Maxtor Ext HD myself. Maxtor has a website. Try www.maxtor.com or Google it and you will find their web site. Then search for your HD and do a search for the download of the drivers needed for your HD
