Hi,
I was actually a bit surprised that you were able to run it using windows 7. Sony did not release any specific driver designed for windows 7 operating systems and this can cause an issue to printing operations if you have used older drivers. Try running the main printer application on compatibility mode and see if it resolves your issue. Right click on the main application shortcut and click on properties. Go to compatibility tab and choose a lower operating system (e.g. Windows XP service pack 2). Save the changes by clicking on OK and test the printer. If this won't work, I would strongly suggest you uninstall the printer and removed all instances of it in Printers and Devices. Remove all applications associated with it (uninstall). reboot the computer and if the Printer came with an installation CD, used it to setup the printer. Make sure that the printer is plugged off the pc when you run the setup. Plug it only when prompted during the installation procedure. This is important to avoid driver conflicts.
Post here if it works for you or not.
Thanks for using fixya.
Hi there Ted,
As I told you, I was surprised that you were even able to make prints using a windows 7 machine as this model is not windows 7 compatible. They haven't even released an updated driver for this.
Unfortunately, it is either you use it on a computer with lower Operating system (windows xp or vista) or buy a windows 7 compatible machine.
HI there Ted,
The reason why they said that it can work with limited feature is because Windows 7 does carry a bigger "driver store" which makes it work for most devices "basic functions". But the problem we are having is quite specific, this is not basic functionality anymore, it is specific and these "specific requests" are being handled by software drivers. If we don't have the correct software drivers, these specific requests will not be processed correctly by the printer. I checked everywhere to see if there is a driver available for windows 7 but could not find any, unfortunately.

None of you suggestions has worked for me. I usually print photos straight from Windows Explorer. I am not allowed to change compatibility there. I tried changing compatibility for Windows Live Photo Gallery but got the same printing problem there. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer multiple times. When I try to use the CD that came with the printer, Windows 7 does not recognize anything as a printer driver on that CD. Unless you have any other suggestions, I guess I will have to buy a new printer.
At this sitehttp://www.sony-asia.com/support/compati... it indicates the printer should work with Win 7 (does not indicate home or professional, mine is professional 32-bit) with some limited functionality (*2 Instead of the driver supplied with the printer, please use the printer driver available with Windows Update. However, functions such as red-eye reduction and preview are not supported.). I tried that with no success. Unless that gives you any clues that could help, I am ready to move on to a new printer.
