I have a 7 yr old JVC I-Art TV that started having an intermittent problem with turning itself off. The only way to turn it on again was to shut the power off and on again. Recently that stopped working. It is off and the On light blinks. (We also recently had a surge from a storm, although the TV is plugged into a surge protector bar). What could the problem be and is it worth trying to fix?

Could be that the tube itself is going out if it has a couple of years on it

Tries unplug,replug tv like an hour later,let the tv reset itself back to factory setting.The tv should work again.Not,than the tv power supply board is dead.Taking it to the shop or buying a new tv.It up to u comparing the repair prices and the new tv prices.

Something is overheating or you've got leaking capacitors somewhere. I'd start with the ballast board. Its directly underneath the lamp housing. You can access and remove it through the lamp door. Replace that and if that doesn't solve the problem, comment again, and we'll move on to more complicated repairs. You haven't noticed any weird noises, humming, screeching or similar oddities from the set? Turn the set on with the lamp door open and bypass the switch with a piece of tape, if you hear something like a hum, you may have a bad color wheel motor.

your tv is under shutdown state, there is a protecting circuit that prevent the tv from turning on when there is a short

Does anyone know where can I buy a screen for a 27" LCD Insignia TV. Model is NS-27LCD? My screen creaked. I checked out e-bay and have not found a broken TV with a good screen. Does anyone know where I can buy a screen at.

Is pix ok before shutdown?

If convergence is wildly misaligned then load may be shutting down power supply. Fix convergence and TV OK.

yes... i actually work at verizon the tv is to old for fios because fios is so advanced we run off ot 720 to 1080 depending on areas. what kind of box is it? is it the hd box or stb>

The little button on the main circuit board may be sticking intermittently causing your set to do this. This little push button was operated by the piece your 3-year old broke off.
