Question about Kodak DCS 14n Digital Camera

1 Answer

Color Problems I have currently been using a Kodak 14n at my current job and have noticed something rather strange. With every picture I take, the photo has an deep magenta cast. In photoshop 7 I adjust the color either by using autocolor or by manual color adjustment. After getting the color a close as I can, I notice that there are faint sections of color vertically across the picture. One third is slightly green, the middle third is yellow, and the right third is magenta. So basically I have two problems I need help with, the Magenta cast on the original picture, and the color stripes after color correction. If anyone knows what is causing this, or has experienced this themselves, please let me know.

I know this contribution might be late, but try to avoid using the auto white balance. Use a tungsten mode and test each of its compensations until you get the desired result. I haven't had a similar problem on the 14n, but my D100 always places a magenta cast on white when shooting auto WB. I learned how to adapt the other WB modes to any situation.

Streaks like little roots or little tree branch on my pictures

is this not a problem with your lens rather than PC - best was to check is to take two separate BLACK (if white marks) or vice versa, pictures and see if the "tree" is on exactly the same place on all pictures
good luck.

Thanks FixYa.com for your email 26.12.2012 at 6.20pm. IN Kodak Easyshare albums I rerrange photos & sort by manual order. Then when I close down & reopen my Qosmio notebook the photos revert to...

Hi Ron,
I share your frustration with this lovely "feature" In addition if you set your column sizes differently to the defaults while you are working they will reset as well when you shut off the program.

The only solution I have come up with is to use the manual captions to keep my photos in the order that I want them - I currently have 28060 photos in Easyshare, so it's a big job!

Give some thought to how you want to sequence your shots - if it's
only a few for a specific purpose you can number them (you will need leading zeros though as the captions are sorted as if they are text). IE 1 10 100 20 will be in that order unless you type 001 010 020 100 ...

Also use your Album names cleverly - there is no reason why the same photo cant be in more than one album. For example, there is no reason why a "Photo of Betty at the seaside" cant be placed in all of the following albums simultaneously "Betty" "Holiday snaps" "seaside Pictures" etc

Hello, pleas I need service manual for Kodak DCS

HelloUnfortunately, the service manual for your Kodak DCS 14n is not available anywhere online. The manufacturers of this product did not make it available.
I would suggest you contact Kodak and request for the manual from them. They might give it to you or direct you to a dealer where you can get the manual.

Here is a direct link to Kodak's DCS 14n digital camera support page :
http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/professional/..

To view the page just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted section of text just above.

My Z1285 won't upload pictures onto my computer. It used to do it ok. Could I have a driver problem? If so, how do I get a current driver?

You can get the current Kodak software from
http://support.en.kodak.com/app/home/selected/true
Click on the "Downloads and Drivers" link on the right.

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Go to Kodak.com, download and install the current version of the EasyShare software. It's a no-cost program that will handle downloading, editing, and cataloging your photos.

What is the largest mb sd card the kodak dcs pro 14n will read ??

Hello!
Seems the DCS PRO/n do not handel SD cards with HC capabilitys. So the largest SD cars that there is i 4GB. Problems is to find such a card.
In reallity 2GB is possible.
I recomend You to obtain a CF card instead. I use a 16GB CF and it work like a charm.

I suppose the DCS 14/n work the same way.

I can scan and edit the text with the Kodak ESP-3

You can edit the pictures using Kodak's retouching software.Scan quality was a little better but also retained the dark compression issues.

The Kodak ESP 3 comes with great software for editing photos and applying touch-ups to portraits, but printer software is only as good as the physical results, and the print quality isn't nearly up to current industry standards. Your $150 would be much better spent on alternative multifunction printers.
