Is the Axim compatible with IBM 1 Gig MicroDrive? As this is the only way to put full length feature film onto the PocketPC platform. I know that the Axim has a type II Flashcard slot but want to make sure it is compatible with it.

Do you use compact flash type II (microdrive) wich is not compatible?

I have tried to initiate the partnership using Activesync with my new Axim on three different laptops, three different versions of windows operating systems including 2K. I've spent hours on the hold for support and have been very disappointed with the level of training on this product. Obviously, we are not the only customers have problems with the usb connection but if you call the help desk, they act like it's a surprise to them. I have downloaded the usb patch and that does not correct the problem. I've been told by the support staff that I will have to upgrade to XP. Well that's just great. I need to spend $99 to upgrade my laptop to use a $200 pda. There are posting from XP users having the same problem so I'm not inclined to run right out to Best Buy! If I don't get a resolution fast, my Axim is being returned to Dell.

I attached a plastic strip on the back of my MicroDrive. It has a one inch plastic tab on the top and I use that to remove the drive from the slot. I got the strips (they have one sticky side) with another CF card I got somewhere along the way and it works great! Otherwise, I'd probably be looking at using some fine needle nose pliers, a pair of tweezers or just leaving it in forever.

You won't be able to do that. Lotus Organizer as well as Lotus Notes and OutHook are PIM some plus e-mail, just like Palm Desktop is a PIM. So you can have the Treo sync with Lotus Organizer AND have the Axim sync with it also it is because there are conduits buit for them. There is a middleware that allows both to talk to one. Now if you can find a piece of software out there that will sync a PocketPC with Palm Desktop, I'm sure a lot of Palm converts would love to know that.

I got my 1gig microdrive last Wed. UPS says my Axim is going to be delivered today. I'll let you know how the microdrive performs as soon as he axim is charged.

The limitation is only what is available. Currently, the biggest SD card you can easily get would be a 512mb, though the 1gb's are on the way.

The battery that comes with Axim is the standard 1440mAh; an extended battery with something like 3400mAh is indeed available as an option. According to some reviews of Axim, the standard battery is good for 8-10 hours of normal usage. One review said they played MP3s non-stop for 6 hours 22 minutes before the MP3 player stopped because of not enough power, but Axim still had another 16% on the battery which was good enough for about another full hour of standard usage. Audio and video will both cut down on how much you can expect from the battery, video much more so than audio. If you are planning on watching full length movies on an airplane from a 1GB Microdrive, I think getting the extended battery would be a good idea. I'll give this a try myself as soon as I get my Axim, which should be... drum roll... the day before Xmas, according to Dell.

The microdrive is compatable with anything that supports reading compact flash memory cards, because there is a common method of communication between flash and hard drives that use pcmcia or CF slots.
