Normally a good indication would be that when the compressor tries to kick on, it gives a "moaning" like sound, power draws down and normally will trip the circuit breaker in panel. Yes it can be changed "very carefully" , as they are a dangerous source of electrical shock. Have to remove cover on roof, and you'll find small metal cover to remove to expose the capacitors etc. Look for burned wires as well.

Handle all wires etc, with insulated pliers ( needlenose ) and don't touch terminals on top of capacitors with anything else but insulated pliers, and never touch a screwdriver or any other tool across those terminals when your in there.

The capacitor with brown wires is for fan, other 2 are compressor start, and compressor run.

You can check with a multimeter that has a micro Farad checker you can read on the cap what the mF is and what the range will be plus or minus a certain percent. You can change it just remember how you took the wires off. example 80mf cap plus or minus 10 percent would be72-80 would be good cap.

Vintage Coleman Mach Mini air conditioner capacitors

If you had a picture that would be good.. Is this a MACH mini? The capacitance is usually in a range of 30 to 55 Microfarads. The big issue is the voltage rating.

Coleman Mach III RV AC

Sounds like possible fan capacitor failure. If your not familiar with capacitors, please find someone who is, as they can give a fatal electrical jolt if not handled properly.

Coleman mach rv roof ac, the fan comes on but the compressor doesn't, i've replaced all capacitors and stll is not comming on, how do i check voltage to the compressor to maske sure i have pow

At the compressor connectors you have a live and a neutral phase. The live usually goes to a ptc relay starting mechanism which you can test with a meter. If you can disconnect the relay and check the windings of the compressor from one pin to the other two it will tell you if the compressor is open circuit. It is more often than not an overload fault.

Compressor for coleman mach air conditioner tries to kick in, but won't start

Sounds like faulty compressor start capacitor. Be careful if not experienced, as there is a chance of high voltage there, even when power off. 250-370 volts. Insulated pliers are a must when removing wires from capacitor.

It runs cold briefly for about 4 to 5 minutes then

Check the compressor capacitor. It would have gone weak. Replace with the identical value and type.

The issue with the generator that gets low and high when it start running out of gas that effect the A/C and result of high voltage getting to the unit and burn the capacitors and it should by saved by the fuse make sure that the gen not run out of gas if you have the A/C on and that the fuse is the correct one for the A/C and again check the air and see you may got a bad capacitor.

RV A/C fan won't start on its own

This could be the problem. It is more likely that the motor bearing is bad. Take the fan capacitor and have it tested. Or replace it, (under $20). Was the fan motor loud before this happened? Hopefully it is just the capacitor, the motor runs $60 - $100 and is a FUN to replace.
