Screen powers off and power indicator goes out after ~30 minutes

My VX32L looks good when first turned on. After about 30 minutes it turns off (no picture, no sound) and the VIZIO power indicator goes black. It will only come back after leaving unplugged for several minutes. Then it will stay on even shorter. Also, If I leave plugged in overnight, the amber power indicator (standby mode) won't stay on overnight. After ~8 hours I come back and it is black. The TV worked great for 15 months, now it won't stay on for more than 30 minutes. Is there any known fix for this? Bad power board? or Main board? Don't want to order the wrong $100 part.

Your message is pretty old but I'll give you my un-copywrited spiel anyhow;
If it just fails to turn on, the main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.

Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.

If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply and install it yourself.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.

I have a Vizio VX32L and when I turn it on the screen flashes and goes black. The power light comes on and the vizio sign lights up and turns white. But the screen flashes real fast and goes black again.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

My Vizio VX32L LCD TV will power on but no picture or sound

I had the same problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound.

HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine. I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

For me the part number was either (depending on the vendor) : 0171 2272 2174 or it was 3632 0212 0150. Check your circuit and see if any of those numbers match up.

Screen goes black after 30 mins of working.

There are a few things you need to check here.
1. It could be that your computer power management is set to turn your monitor and harddrive off after 30 to 45 min.

If the computer is however working for 30 to 45 min while you doing stuff and it shuts off, the there is an internal problem "Hardware"

I would suggest you check to see if the power management is set to turn off monitor 30 min and harddrive after 45 min. IF that is not so, then we go on to the next test.

It could possibly be your processor fan is not working so once your processor gets over heated it shuts off the computer.

Turn off the computer, remove the case "this is only if you know what you are doing" with the case off, power on the computer and see if the processor fan is working.

You can get back to me and I can walk you through it.

Hope thiss help.

Monitor only stays on for 30 sec. & then goes off then if I remove the power cord & re-power it up it comes on for another 30 sec. then goes back off

Howdy folks. There are only 3 things that can go wrong with a screen. Since you both are experiencing the same symptoms, let's ask the same question: When the screen goes blank, is the power button still green or is it orange? A green light indicates a good power supply and a bad screen. An orange light indicates a bad power supply but a good screen. I used to take them apart and try to fix them but they just aren't worth the trouble because they are so inexpensive nowadays.
Either way, I'm the bearer of bad news. It looks like you'll both be getting new screens. Please don't hold it against me when you rate my solution! ;-)
