Re: How do I hotsync alldata from my Tungsten E with...
U can, but I don't see any reason for that...
of course u can switch to outlook, u need just to reinstall the Palm Desktop software from the CD, and choose the option synchronize with outlook instead PDS (while installing again).
Anyways, switching from a hh to another one, doesn't make any problem with ur data, u need just to install the new PDS and synchronize using the same user name....

This morning I downloaded LifeDrive Update 1.0, and when I did a HotSync afterwards, I got an error message saying,
Handheld Tasks application database version not supported.
Handheld Notes application database version not supported.
Now my contacts, memos, tasks, calendar entries and possibly other items are all gone!! This is the core data that is the reason why I use a PDA! I would be totally distraught, except that the data does still seem to exist in Outlook on my PC.
I am running Outlook 2002, SP3 on a WinXP machine. Can anyone help to fix this problem?
In order to synchronize with Outlook you need to setup the replication to be with Outlook instead of Palm Desktop.
On you cd there should be a third party piece of software (Chapura). Install the required software and follow the instructions.
Manual unduplication in Outlook.
Everyone who synchronizes databases has to deal with dupes once in a while.
Here is a really excellent method for manually removing the duplicates within Outlook. It looks complicated but it is really easy to do. The principle is this - every record created in Outlook has a creation date/time stamp. When your data got duplicated during a HotSync operation, all of the duplicate records bear a date/time stamp of that synchronization - usually all the duplicates were created within about one minute of one-another.
Remember to change (HotSync, Custom) settings before you perform your sync or else you will get duplicate records as I did. Good luck.

Switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop synchronization
Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palm™ Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura (find out which). Both of these types of conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your device.
What do you want to learn about?

* Switching synchronization: PocketMirror Conduits
* Synchronizing partially with Palm Desktop, partially with Outlook
* Note about data transfer
* Macintosh information
* Multiple users on the same desktop computer
Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits
These instructions apply to the Palm Outlook Conduits that are included with handhelds released after late 2003. The Palm Desktop installer determines which conduits are activated during the installation process.
If you want to switch synchronization from Palm Desktop to Outlook, or vice versa, you'll need the original CD-ROM that came with your handheld.
1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer. A window should open, containing the contents of the CD-ROM.
2. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select "Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits" or "Change synchronization method" (depending on which device you have)
3. Follow the instructions for switching synchroniztion from or to Palm Desktop or Outlook.
4. See our note about data transfer
Remember: Some applications will continue to synchronize with Palm Desktop. Use Palm Desktop to manage applications such as Photos and VoiceMemo
I went to the MY COMPUTER folder, clicked open PROGRAM FILES, open PALMONE folder, open the username folder and deleted the back-up files. However, before I did this I deleted all of the problems dates in the PC calendar and set the hotsync to PC overrides handheld.
While this works, unfortunately I have found that I need to do it every once in a while which is very disappointing. It seems that Windows does not operate seamlessly with the Palm T5. I find that the hotsync crashes 50% of the time forcing me to reset my Palm T5. No information is lost, but it is really a pain in the *** to have to do so often. Versamail hotsync sometimes freezes on the handheld, but that is another issue which I have managed to fix much in the same way as describe above.
I tried all the suggestions that were offered and gave up. But then out of pure craziness I loaded the treo 600 CD that came with my Treo 600 out of curiosity. It loaded and the MS Office 2003 conduits loaded nicely and the problem appears to be solved for now.
So I tested and it the Tungsten E Hotsync's feature all appear to be okay. I'm not sure if this is the best solution but it solved a very frustrating problem.
The version of Hotsync that loaded is 4.1.0.
Hope this helps.
Changing back to Palm Desktop Software from Outlook with Tungsten E
1 Place the Installation CD that came along with your handheld onto your cd-rom. Wait for it to load after which you’ll see a splash screen with different menus.
Note: If the cd does not automatically load, double click on my computer then click on the cd-rom drive icon and finally click on the first icon (looks like a cd) labeled ‘autorun’
2. Select ‘Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits’
3. Click on ‘Install’
4. Click on ‘Yes’
5. Click on ‘Yes”
6. Click on ‘Ok’
7. Click on ‘Back’
8. Click on ‘Exit’
Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)
After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
