To fix the Sony remote dvd-1 dvd-2 dvd-3 issue is to take the remote for that recoreder into another room or unplug the dvd recorder a moment. Then hold down the enter key and the number of the mode its stuck in ie if its stuck in dvd-1 mode hold down the enter key and then the 1 key. hold both buttons together for 3 seconds. After this go back into the room and try it or if you unpluged tthe player replug it back in. The remote has to be away from the player to work. again example

get away from player different room so it can not sence remote. Hold down enter and 1 button for 3 seconds and then try it
if its stuck in dvd-2 mode dold down enter and the number 2 button together for 3 secondsd and try it. The idea is you have to be far away from the recorder so it dosent recieve any inputs from the remote while doing this. First make sure that the DVD drive is the only drive listed to be booted from. Make it the first and only drive. Unfortunately most motherboards have an issue with booting from a SATA DVD drive. Secondly turn off Sata RAID if you have it. If this doesn't work then your motherboard isn't capable. It is too old and from what I can tell from the manual it is running SATA 986p, which is only 150mp/s thats not even Sata 1.5. Early Sata controllers couldn't do installations of OSs at all. 

In your bios change the settings for boot order, 

1: DVD Rom
2: n/a
3: n/a
4...
5...
6...

This will force a boot off the only drive available which is the dvd rom.

hi! replacing cd room,open your cpu cover by two quick lock bolt at back side of your pc right side,show on figure w/ arrow where the quick lock bolt.then pull out cover and you'll cd rack inside your cpu as shown on figure release 2 lock screw,and pull out i.d.e cable on cd room terminal also the audio cable next to leftside if have one,next the front cover of cpu thats locking your cd room theres a cliff lock on side opposit of the fron cover lift it by flat screw driver slowly and careful it might broke,after cover was detouched,don't remove any wire connection on front cover,pull out your cd room replace by dvd rom and connect all what has been disconnect on cd room put back front cover,and connect pwer,audio and ide cable again then try to switch on your dvd rom is a plug and play you can install your dvd installer and follow wizard instruction and click finish...regards

ok if your cd room doesn't work try to replaced it
or try to used the cd in other dvd room and saved it to the flash drive
and then install it!!!!
