Hello there schofield

If you have the brief flashing yellow light, then its followed by a red blinking light then you have the yellow light of death AKA the YLOD.

The lights are a warning sign to let you know something is wrong. I can give you the quick explanation, There are 2 chips on the motherboard inside the PS3, the GPU (graphics) and the CPU (brain), when playing the ps3 the solder heats up and when you finish playing it cools down, over time this will cause the soldering to crack and the chips to lose connection with the motherboard and you get the YLOD.

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE

Option 1 - Call Sony

In warranty the Price is Free, out of warranty the Price is $150, the whole process is 4-6 weeks

You can call Sony and they will collect the PS3, repair/replace, and deliver the PS3 back to you

Option 2 - Fix it your Self

You can use a PS3 fix manual to get this fixed easily and at home using household tools you probably already own.

Click here to know more on PS3 Fix Manuals which has helped so many people like you.

Good luck

Best regards

Peter

My playstation has the light trun green yellow flashing red light

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

Yes this is the YLOD (Yellow light of death) to fix it you need to stop the heat build up getting to the main chips in the motherboard to do this you should use the recommended PS3 Repair guide.

It is created by the same person as the top selling Xbox guide>>

PL-CS55 headset lifts receiver but only get buzzing sound in

Try a system reset:
1. Lift the headset off of the charging cradle (the base).  Make sure the headset is turned off.  The green light on the base won't be on if the headset is turned off. 2. Hold down the call answer button on the headset at the same time as mute button.  The mute button is found on the little black wheel on the top of the headset.  Use the tip of your finger to push it straight in. 3. Hold both buttons until you see a green light on the headset flash.  It will be right below your thumb.  Hold both buttons until the green light flashes for a series of 2 flashes.  Then let go of both buttons. 4. Put the headset back on the charging cradle and wait 30 seconds.  Lift it back off and try again. 5. If this doesn't work repeat the process once more or try a resubscription.
Resubscription procedure:
1. Put the headset back onto the charging cradle.  Make sure the red light on the base is on and the yellow light is flashing. 2. On the back of the base there are two buttons for the microphone adjustment that can be pressed down.  Press both of those down until the red light and yellow light on the front of the base start flashing. 3. While the headset is still on the charging cradle press and hold the mute button until the red light on the base goes solid, and the yellow light stays flashing. 4. Unplug the power to the base and then plug it back in. 5. Wait 20 seconds and try.

PS3 won't turn on

hi Torgsrus.
PS3 Light sequence
The following pictures illustrate the CECHX0X model, however the light sequence is applicable to all PlayStation 3 models.

No lights are on:

When no lights are on, this means that the main power switch on the back of the ps3 is off or the PS3 is unplugged. When the main power switch is off (the '0' is pressed) and you will not be able to access any features of the PS3 system. To turn on the PS3 system, make sure the main power switch is on (the 'I' side is pressed down).

If the PS3 does not turn on:
· Make sure the power cord is not frayed or damaged
· Try using another power cord, if available
· Make sure the main power switch on the back of the PS3 system is turned on
· If you continue to have issues contact our Technical support.

Solid Red:

When the power status light is solid red, this means that the PS3 system is off (or in standby mode).
Standby, mode means the PlayStation 3 system is off, but is ready to be turned on by pressing the power button.

If the ps3 system will not turn on when you press the power button, this is an issue with the PS3 system and you will need to send your system in for service.

Solid Green:

When the power status light is solid green, this means that the PS3 is turned on.
You should be able to navigate the XMB, play games, access the Playstation store, etc.
To turn of the PS3, simply press and hold the power button for two or more seconds.
If the power status light is green ,and you are experiencing problems- have a look on our forums for troubleshooting.

Flashing Red:

When the power status light flashes red after using the PS3 system for 3 or more minutes and shuts off, the PS3 system has possibly overheated.

This may be caused by poor ventilation or the vents may be blocked.
If this happens:
· Check to see if the vents are blocked. If the vents are dusty, vacuum the vents to remove the dust.
· If the PS3 system is in an enclosed area like an entertainment area, move it to a more open area.
· Leave the ps3 system off for 30 minutes to let it cool down.
· If you continue to have issue, you may need to send the console in for service.

Flashing Green:

When the power status light flashed green, it means that the PS3 system is turning off. Please wait while the system turns off.

If the PS3 system does not shut down immediately, it may be trying to finish save data to the Hard Drive. If it is, do not turn the main power switch on the back off as it may cause data on your hard drive to be corrupted.

If the green light continues to flash green, the ps3 system maybe trying to write to the hard drive, shutting down or running programs. It may take longer to shut down depending on when you pressed the power button. If the green power light flashed for a very long time, you can try holding the power button down for 5 seconds, the console will beep and should turn off. Then try to restart the PS3 system.
Flashing Green, Yellow and Red:

When the power status light goes from green, to yellow, to green, then to a flashing red, this means that they may be an issue with an internal part with in the PS3 system. This may be caused by a variety of reasons and would need to be diagnosed by our support line.

When the PS3 power light flashes in this order, you can contact our Support Line for further assistance.

Solid Blue:

When the disk status light is remaining a solid blue, it means the disc is inside the PS3 system. If you wish to eject the disc, hold down the eject button for 2 seconds and the blue disc status light will flash indicating the PS3 system is attempting to eject the disc . (NB: the power indicator light will always be a solid green).

If the disc is inserted into the ps3 system, but does not show up on the xmb or will not play, this may indicate an issue with the reader- check our guide Discs are not loading in my PlayStation 3? for further troubleshooting.

Flashing Blue:

When the disc status light is flashing blue, it means a disc was just inserted into the ps3 system or a disc is trying to eject from the ps3 system. Depending on when you pressed the eject button, it may take longer for the disc to eject. (NB: the power light will always be a solid green)
If the light constantly flashes blue, it may be an issue with the disk being stuck in the system. If this happens there is no way to remove the disc yourself if you are using an orginal 60GB PlayStation.

Powering on

OK ... after a lot of trial and error, I got mine to work. I think it may be a really low charge or something. I had to press the power button until it was completely dark ... no flashing faint green or any colors. Then when I plugged it in, I got a solid red and left it for awhile. Then when I pressed the power button I got yellow, red and green ... the computer recognized it and then got a solid yellow.

Before when I had it plugged in, I'd get a lot of red random flashing ... and it just didn't seem to charge at all ... even after a full day.

I think the issue was that it was in this "flashing state (red when connected, very faint green when disconnected)" It wasn't easy to get it to turn off completely. Most of the presses of the power button didn't change the state at all. But if I got it just right, I could see the faint green light go off. That's when I plugged it in and got a solid red light, and eventually a good charge.

Hope this works for some others.
