Sometimes my Jornada 680 gives me a "booting cold" error message and then the screen goes black (no colour, image, graphic, ... nothing). Trying to reset might solve the problem for sometime but the error will repeat itself, causing me to lose data if working with any application.
What can I do to solve this situation?

Re: Jornada 680 "booting cold"
Sounds like a loose connector inside, I had a similar problem after I took my 680 apart to replace a cracked screen. It took a few more dismantlings and re-assemblings until it settled down. You should also check the state of the button cell battery.

It could possbily be a loose connector or more likely its a broken flexi PCA. You could try swapping the screens with another Jornada, by buying a faulty one off of ebay that doesn't have a faulty screen.
ITS NOT THE BLACK CARTRIDGE!!! Try changing the colour cartridge and see what happens. When a 9600 checks ink levels it does the black ink first, then the colour, if the colour is low it goes back and checks the black again but will constantly give an error message for the black cartridge. Sounds bizarre but try just the black cartridge in with no colour. print a test page in black only, if that does not print then it is a fault. Also make sure the driver is updated!!!
