First, enter the menu and go to VOX. Then try to use the down arrow. As soon as on the screen apears OF press SEL 3 more times then your VOX should be off. Sorry for inconvenience but I don't know English verry good.

When mic n headset is plugged into my motorola cp100 sound comes thru both radio speaker and headset. How do I fix this so that when the headset is plugged in. Sound only comes in thru the headset??

Sometimes on Motorola radios, the vox option get left on. Due to both vox and regular PTT option at the same time, may cause them to RX out of both speakers. So try turning off your vox option which should under menu on the keypad

We recently purchased the MS350 radios and are trying to use them handfree with the headsets. We plugged in the headsets, turned on the radios, but are unable to communicated back and forth using the VOX...

The three things which come to mind are:
1) Is the headset the VOX headset intended for the radio model? Sometimes the rings on the plug do not match the internal points of contact if it is not the intended headset. Not all headsets are VOX capable.
2) Is the headset plugged in all the way. (You mentioned plugging in and then turning on. This is good. You must always have the radio turned off when plugging or unplugging an audio device.)
3) Try pressing the PTT on the headset cord one time before switching the dip switch to VOX. (Assuming you have a headset with the small box in the line.)

Check your VOX/ iVOX settings. You will need VOX for using an audio device.

Lastly, if you continue to have difficulties, contact Motorola at the 800# provided in the user guide. They should be able to assist you.

Best regards.

Microphone setting

The face is an indicator for VOX, voice activation. If you are using an audio device (headset or earpiece) with the radio that is VOX capable, this icon will appear. General rule of thumb, make certain the radio is turned off when plugging in any audio device. Plug in firmly, you will feel a slight click when the plug is fully seated. To turn off VOX while you have an audio device plugged in simply press the PTT on the radio.

Here is a link to the user guide for more info concerning VOX. It begins on page 22. http://www.pager.net/LRSimages/PDFs/cls_series_userguide.pdf

Uniden turn off vox

Hi Jon,
The problem is easy to solve, so here goes:
vox indicates that your unit is set to work via the microphone(if you have one), and is activated when you start to speak, (hence vox=voice activated microphone), if you don't have the microphone that came with the unit, you will need to buy/borrow one and connect it to the unit, before you can turn off vox, so that the unit can work with or without the microphone(vox will no longer show), once you have done this.
I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Peter

How do you disable the VOX setting on a Talkabout MR350 2 way radios. I wan to use it with a headset, but do not want VOX on.

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/MR350-351%20User%20Guide%2012-16-08%20KEM-PK14190-90.pdf You will find the instructions for VOX and iVOX on the bottom of page one, and at the beginning of page 2.

Be certain when plugging in your audio accessory that the radio is turned off. If the radio is left on inadvertently, you would have no control over the VOX settings, it would immediately be in a confused VOX mode.

Also, with most Motorola radios, if VOX begins to occur, turn off the radio, and then re-insert the audio device plug. And in some instances, pressing the PTT on the radio when you are having a VOX occurrence will put the radio back to push-to-talk status.

I cant turn the vox off of the radio. i plug in the headset and it locks the keys and i cant hear anyone talking to me through the headset.

Only plug the headset in with the radio turned off, and be certain to use a headset designed for the radio. On the SX model radios the VOX or iVOX feature is automatically set to the last sensitivity setting when you plug in an audio device. Here is a link to the user guide, where you can read how to turn iVOX and/or VOX on or off.

I have a Motorola MPB30 video baby monitor and it has developed a fault where it goes into sleep mode after a couple of minutes even though it's fully charged. An on-screen message has also appeared at the...

That's not a fault - that's the way it works in VOX mode. VOX means it only plays when it hears a sound on the camera end, and goes into a lower-power standby mode when nothing is happening.
Turn off the VOX (Menu -> picture of a guy talking -> turn all the way down) to have it constantly transmit.
Personally, my wife and I like the VOX all the way up. It keeps us from having to check at every peep and squawk, but does let us know when crying is going on.

How do I set my sx700 radio to work with hands-free headsets? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hands-Free Use With Accessories (VOX)
You can transmit hands-free with the use of optional accessories. Once
VOX is turned on, the radio detects your voice and transmits when you
speak.
1. Turn the radio off and plug the VOX accessory into the accessory
port.
2. Turn the radio on. VOX shows on the display.
3. Adjust the volume appropriately by rotating the volume knob . Lower the volume
before placing the accessory on your head or in your ear.
4. To turn off, simply remove accessory.
Note: There is a short delay between the time you start talking and
when the radio transmits. There is a short delay before the
transmission is completed.

Owners Manual: http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/SX700_userguide.pdf

You must be using a VOX capable accessory. Generally this is an accessory without an in-line PTT.
