Hi, I started to have an issue with a display of my Tecra M5. The laptop is 2 years old and there has been no problems with it before.. Last week I attached a 32" LG LCD TV to my Tecra as an external monitor (using monitor cable), and it has been working fine. I usually attach a twenty-something-inches monitor at work, so I didn't expect any issues here either. After a few days, however I noticed a strange behavior of the LCD display of the laptop itself - the screen looked distorted and it was hard to read. I thought it's something about the external tv-monitor, so I tried unplugging it and restarting the machine. While it didnt help, I thought it's the display driver so I updated it, but that didn't help either... Then I noticed that the screen got back to normal, so I blamed it at the external tv-monitor.. But today it got back to that distorted state and I'm kinda helpless what could be the cause and solution. Also what happened to me today, was that the distortion was kinda flickering, as if it was getting back to the normal state, but eventually it would remain distorted.. What's important to note, when my TV is attached as external monitor, it displays just fine (I am using it now to write this :smileywink: Here's photos of the display: http://i40.tinypic.com/34glwd4.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/zwgwh2.jpg When I made screenshots of the desktop and then viewed it at the tv-monitor they were just fine, so I realized there could be something with the laptop's LCD itself maybe? ..since the graphics card recorded the screen state properly... not sure. I've tried googling for some clues, but wasnt able to find anything similar. The only similar issue is said to happen on macs: http://gizmodo.com/5119858/apples-mini-displayport-to-dual+link-dvi-adapter-has-periodic-distortion-... ..but that's a bit different I guess. If anyone has any clues, please let me know - I'm hopeless now... Thanks in advance!

The 32 inch LCD may have a lower display resolution that the LCD on your system. Ensure that the display settings for the LC are at the MAX resolution and 60 htz

My Toshiba Tecra M5 won't boot. The power light flashes on and off, the fan starts but nothing is on the screen. How can I get it to boot?

Well, it sounds like you have a hardware problem. Start by removing the Ram and hard Drive from the machine and insert a boot disk. If your not getting the Tecra Splash screen when you press the power button, the screen that appears before the windows boot screen, you may have a bad Monitor or Burned background lamp or faulty BIOS install or upgrade. Any of which will give you this problem.

Some kes not working. help!!!

Hi,
If the problem is intermittent then the problem could just be foreign objects like crumbs and hair that's trapped under the keys.

Turn the laptop off and stand it on it's side with the lid open. Get a soft, dry paintbrush and brush the keys, gently tap the keyboard in various places with the back of the paintbrush to help dislodge anything that's trapped.

Once your satisfied all the keys are clear turn the laptop on and see if it has made any difference.

If it has not then you may need to replace the keyboard.

Good luck.
