My dell d600 touchpad left click suddenly stopped working. After some time (laptop had been turned off for a few months), I turned the laptop on and it was working. It lasted for a few weeks, and then it stopped again. Right click works perfect, but the left one doesn't work at all.

My laptop is only a few months old, and the touchpad randomly stopped working....what can i do?

If you have already tried another mouse and works fine in Windows OS then the problem gets narrowed down to the touchpad being faulty and would have to replace it but don't discard the touchpad could be accidently disabled in the control panel of the mouse properties. Dell laptops usually have a driver chipset and driver for the mouse touchpad specifically which you can get on support.dell.com

try reinstalling before getting new touchpad part for your laptop. Dell has spareparts where you can buy a refurb one and install yourself. Instructions on how to take apart your laptop is on the same site.

Dell latitude d600...i want to disable my touchpad, the mouse does whatever it wants anytime I touch my laptop or even when I am not touching my laptop! I am so much happier with my wireless mouse!

Hi MKW,

I know the feeling. Here we go,

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Click System
  3. Click the Hardware Tab
  4. Click Device Manager
  5. Click the '+' located to the left of Mice and other controllers
  6. There should be two mice listed. Select the touchpad.
  7. Right Click it then click on Properties.
  8. At the bottom where it says 'Device Usage', Change it to Disable.
  9. Click OK until you're out.
  10. If it wants to reboot, let it.
That ought to do it. Hope you found this to be very helpful.

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop. The touch pad does not work.

Unless it is a hardware fault open the control panel>system>mice and uninstall the touchpad. Then rebott. It should solve the problem.

Dell Inspiron 600M Touchpad stopped working

hi

first things first, do take ur laptop off the towel (as this blocks air flow) and place it on a flat surface but slightly elevated to allow better air flow, a better alternative is a notebook cool pad.

now coming to the touchpad issue

download this utility from the support section of dells websight, it gives u loads of option for the touchpad and lets u turn
of the tapping to double click!!

tp2aa09i.exe
hope this helped
cheers
pls rate the solution
