Double check the Palm or palmOne program in Windows. Click Start then All
Programs then Palm or palmOne. You should see an icon in there called
Sync with Outlook or something similar. Click that icon and the
Outlook conduits will replace those for Palm Desktop. Some conduits,
like Media/Photos will continue to sync with Palm Desktop, but
Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos will sync to Outlook.
the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync
Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the
CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of
your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm
the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or
clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available
for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as
one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA.
Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook
Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know
the progress of the synchronization.
the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As
the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is
available on the PDA.
Here are two resource pages which hopefully will help. The first is Palm support page with an update to download for users of Outlook 2003. The second is a discussion thread of Treo users troubleshooting the same problem. Even if the PDA is different, the issue (and error code) is practically the same, Rather than cut and paste what I think is relevant, read the thread and see if one of the solutions listed helps you.
Update dominance in Palm Desktop app.
Figured it out! Go to the Palm Desktop application. Click on HotSynch, and then Custom. On each of the four Outlook conduits, click "Change", and specify that desktop dominates, if desired.
PocketMirror does not control mail synch.
It's a common misconception that Chapura PocketMirror synchronizes email. It only synchs Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes from Outlook. The Mail or VersaMail conduit from palmOne is responsible for email synch.
It sounds to me like you have a bad record or two in your inbox. You could try moving all your current inbox messages to a temporary folder to see if this breaks the log jam. Then you can start to hunt for the bad one by replacing them in portions and re-synching.
Yes - you can specify which folders.
By default the VersaMail conduit synchronizes the Inbox folder from your Outlook/Exchange account.
If you do just as you mentioned creating a MyPalm folder, you will be able to have only that folder synchronize.
Open up the Custom menu item from the HotSync icon. From there select the VersaMail conduit and double click it. Select the account from the dialog that appears - if you have multiple VersaMail accounts, the one to choose is your Outlook profile name. Then click on the Advanced button. Choose the rightmost tab which is called Folders. Here you can individually select the folders which do and which do not synch. Turn the Inbox folder to No and turn the MyPalm folder the Yes. That is it.
