It use micro SD card or micro SDHC. You can use also Transflash (TF) with SD adapter.

Please don't use other cards. Be carefully while inserted the card, do it by right orientation.

DIGICAM MEMORY CARD NOT WORKING IN PC WHILE WORKING IN CAMERA

What type and size memory card? What type of card reader on your PC?

As an example, your camera will handle SDHC cards, 4GB or larger. Some card readers will only handle SD cards, 2GB or smaller, even though SDHC cards will fit physically.

Every time I take a picture it says card error even bought a new card

What type and size memory card? The EX-Z50 works with MMC and SD cards. While higher-capacity SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work.

What cable do I need to get the photos off my sony cyber shot camera and on to my windows 7 computer and where can I buy it??

If you are going to buy a cable save yourself a lot of hurt and annoyances and get a card reader. A card reader can be bought for the same or less then the cable and save a lot of frustration trying to work through the camera. Card readers can be bought to fit your specific memory card or you can get one that will basically handle all memory cards on the market. I don't sell the things but after reading and solving a lot of problems on FixYa over errors and download problems using the camera the reader is the only way to go. The computer once the memory card is inserted into a USB port looks at the memory card as an external Hard Drive PC or Mac are both equally compatible with that. You must remember to do a safe remove or eject the device after you are finished and the card has completely downloaded the information files before removing the memory card or you will corrupt the card. Okay another thing once the card is inserted back into the camera do a Format Card in the camera. Every time you download pictures to the computer and but the memory card back into the camera Format the Card. I don't know where you are in this world but I'm sure pretty well any outlet that sells digital cameras and or electronics would have these devices. Really it's the best way to go. Cheers from Canada

Why can't I get pictures off of an 8gb but I can off of a 2gb chip?

Some cameras cant manage/format large size memory cards as they where not made to handle that size. Check your user manual which should tell you the maximum size memory card your camera will take.

I bought a new memory card and when i insert it I get the message: memory card error. how do i correct this? thanks

Some cameras will not support the later versions of the SD v2.0 released after June 2006 (secure digital mutilmedia card) memory cards that are on the market/

First check the size of the card in (MegaBytes) some older cameras will not even read a SD v1.x 2MB card but will read the smaller 1MB size.

Check for compatibilty with SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) on your camera even though it will fit as it has the same form factor (footprint) as the SD v1.x the camera is not set up to read it and will throw and error.

I suggest that after you have checked all this try and get your money back.

Is there a way to put pics on a windows vista dell without a cord

Dell laptops are supposed to be equipped with a card reader. However if not then you can get hold of a multi card(memory) reader with a USB port from where it will take the images from your camera memory to the hard disk for further action. This gadget is cheap & easily available in the market..................................sodeep

MEMORY CARD ERROR

From what I can see here, the card's size is too large that your camera couldn't support or handle. Maybe your camera is just limited to 1GB or 2GB. Try plugging 2GB card and see if it detects it. I had similar prob where I bought a 4GB card and it does exactly the same thing. I consulted the vendor, he said it only supports up to 2GB thus, it's a product limitation...well I'm stuck there hehe, can't be helped at all..

If you are certain that your camera can handle 4GB card or higher, try to plug the 4GB card into a card reader and see if it detets it. If it does, try to reformat the card and try it again to your camera.

Also, 1 possible thing is that your 4GB card is password protected. Was it plugged in to any other device? If it was, try to plug it back to the same device where it was connected and disable the password.

Onother thing is the brand. Some camera is brand sensitive when it comes to cards. You may need to try different brand as well.

Hope this helps. :-)
