I have a 2001 beetle the air bag light stays on all the time why?
You need to use VagCom (the Audi diagnostic software - available for free at www.ross-tech.com, and you'll need to buy a cable from eBay), and you can find out which bag is tripping the light. If you have side bags in the front seats, chances are it's one of those - moving the seat too far back or down can strain the connector under the seat and cause it to open just enough to trip the light (happens on the Audi A4 all the time - mine happened three times before I fixed it for good). Once you know which bag it is, you can fix it. If it's one of the seat bags, zip tie the connector tightly to hold it together. Under the seat, the airbag has its own separate connector, and it's yellow (by law, all airbag connectors are yellow). Zip-tie it tightly without pinching any wires, then turn off the light. You should be good to go after that.
Everytime I manually shift gears in my 01 volkwagon beetle, I hear a knock under the undercarage by my feet. This happens when I hit a bump also!

how did you manage to read any code like this i wonder as i cannot on a europeon model ,i always end up taking them to the dealer to have any thing done like this ,or remove the bulb warning light wires and then connect a diesel heater relay so the bulb goes out when it goes for its yearly mechanical inspection .Even had to scrap good cars because of this fault and the cost of putting it right ,well come on we all know about dealers and their prices
