Conexant D480 MDC V.92 Modem, v.MH 2.33, A11

Sounds like the image doesn't have the right drive controller driver included. Could be because the image was created on a different laptop or could be the drive controller is configured differently. You can confirm this from the STOP error code on the blue screen

Go into the BIOS setup (probably F2 at boot) and see if the controller mode is set to AHCI. If so, set it to compatibility or combined(?) and try again.

Either way, if you've installed an image for the wrong hardware, you probably should do a remedial install. Boot from your Windows XP disc and follow the prompts as if you were doing a clean install until you get to the license agreement. At the next screen, it should show you any existing Windows installs and give you a new option to repair. Let this go - it won't touch any user files, just replace all the Windows files with those from the CD. Have your system drivers and service packs handy to tidy up when it's done.

To download the drivers from Dell WEB site, select your model desktop or laptop, or a better option, type in the Service Tag number, this is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). The Service Tag will open the page where the drivers specific for your model computer/laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system.

Now you can download easily one after one. after download all the driver, unzip the fie with winrar or zip .

Install it.
Now right click on every downloaded file and select EXTRACRT TO THE FILE FOR......, then create a new folder with the driver file, you can install easily.

Update ur sound driver & make sure ur hardware is connected properly and and install reginout it will automatically fix ur problem

The driver for the installed sound card has failed. Check the Dell site for your model and downlo0ad the sound driver for it and reistall it.

I have had the same problem and error code.
It started as an intermitant fault and then just stopped working.
You can try going into device manager and uninstalling the dvd drive, it will automatically reinstall.
I had to buy a replacement off ebay for about £20, they want about £100 for a new 1

plz do tell which laptop u hv of dell. i.e model number
