DSC-F828 Battery Latch

Has anyone experienced a broken battery latch on the Sony DSC-F828? For the second time within a year and having the first one repaired once before, the battery latch broke again on my camera. It happens without warning... one day you open the battery/memory stick door and the battery and the top part of the latch fall out in your hand. Although a minor problem but not one that I would expect to happen on a camera that I paid $999.00. If for no other reason than to be a thorn in Sony's side, I would send the camera back to them to have it fixed (they have to tear down the entire camera to replace the batterry housing) but the one year warranty expired nine days ago on June 10th. Go figure... I also own a DSC-F717 that has the same type of latch that I have never had a problem with, overall I think it is a better camera in build and picture quality. After my experience with the 828, it will be a long time before I even think about buying another Sony product.

I suspect if you write a cordial note to Sony they just might fix it even though it is a few days out of warranty. I personally have had extremely good service from Sony (Sony Germany that is).

Battery door won't stay closed on Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S90 Digital Camera

The battery door latch is most likely damaged/broken. Try using a piece of duct tape to keep it closed. I've done this on several cameras with battery door latch issues & the doors stayed shut just fine.

Hello I need to know how o transfer my movies from a Sony DSC-F828 to imovie on mac

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in transferring the images from the Camera to the Macintosh Computer. I have provided a link to page where you can view the steps to transfer images from the Camera to the Computer:

Sony DSC H-5 Camera slow response time

There is a diaphram between the shutter button and the shutter that does the focus. Pushing the button half way down pre-focuses and then the picture is instantanious. If the diaphram is broken it take a while before the shutter takes the picture. One of the AA batteries may be defective so try another set and see if that is better. There is also a slight possibility that the secondary battery (hidden within the camera) has gone bad.

Assuming that your Sony DSC-t70 has black color cabinet then you need battery Compartment with following part number...

IMPORTANT (If camera has different color cabinet, let me know to provide you appropriate part number)

Above said part is available in Part Store on $33.42

Sony DSC-F828 Faulty Flash

Try resetting the camera. It is next to the battery release. I had a similar issue and posted help. No remedey. So, after praying about this issue, I was lead to power it down and eliminate all the power by taking out the battery push the power button and many others. I found the reset button pushed it and it is all working now. The praying for a solution was key. Praise Jesus. DRD

DSC-F828 The on and off switch keep turning on.

My friend told me to take out the battery for over one hour and put it back and use the reset button if required. It works o.k. now!

Sony Cyber-Shot Battery Compartment Door Broken

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :

In addtion, I found the last two posts on this forum very helpful:

Good Luck! =)

F828 Will Not Power Up

have you tried with the AC power cable?

F828 Expected life in shots or years

I've had my 828 since Christmas 2003 and have shot over 21,000 frames with it so far and the camera is still working good as new. Sony doesn't publish any expected lifespan, and it would entirely depend on how you use the camera. Is it mounted on a tripod and never moved, or is it banging around in the bottom of a backpack for example? I haven't seen many reports of the 828 breaking for anyone on STF yet that I can remember anyway. I dont see why it wouldn't last for 5 years or more. It's a solid, well built machine.

Hello, This happens when your CF cover is not well locked (or if there is a problem with the lock sensor ;-)
