Has anyone experienced a broken battery latch on the Sony DSC-F828? For the second time within a year and having the first one repaired once before, the battery latch broke again on my camera. It happens without warning... one day you open the battery/memory stick door and the battery and the top part of the latch fall out in your hand. Although a minor problem but not one that I would expect to happen on a camera that I paid $999.00. If for no other reason than to be a thorn in Sony's side, I would send the camera back to them to have it fixed (they have to tear down the entire camera to replace the batterry housing) but the one year warranty expired nine days ago on June 10th. Go figure... I also own a DSC-F717 that has the same type of latch that I have never had a problem with, overall I think it is a better camera in build and picture quality. After my experience with the 828, it will be a long time before I even think about buying another Sony product.
I suspect if you write a cordial note to Sony they just might fix it even though it is a few days out of warranty. I personally have had extremely good service from Sony (Sony Germany that is).
