I have a Tungsten E and just bought a new desktop. My calendar and contact entries are doubled on both my PDA and my desktop (Outlook 2002).
It was probably a stupid thing to do but I performed a Hotsync before I had downloaded the conduit updates.
What do i do now to correct this?

Re: How do I fix double entries after Hotsync
Manual unduplication in Outlook.
Everyone who synchronizes databases has to deal with dupes once in a while.
Here is a really excellent method for manually removing the duplicates within Outlook. It looks complicated but it is really easy to do. The principle is this - every record created in Outlook has a creation date/time stamp. When your data got duplicated during a HotSync operation, all of the duplicate records bear a date/time stamp of that synchronization - usually all the duplicates were created within about one minute of one-another.

Double check the Palm or palmOne program in Windows. Click Start then All
Programs then Palm or palmOne. You should see an icon in there called
Sync with Outlook or something similar. Click that icon and the
Outlook conduits will replace those for Palm Desktop. Some conduits,
like Media/Photos will continue to sync with Palm Desktop, but
Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos will sync to Outlook.
Unfortunately, it's doing what it's supposed to do. When you change the contact in your T5, it still has the old one on your PC. When it goes to sync, it thinks they are two different contacts (because they are different), so it adds the updated one to your PC, and the old one to your T5 resulting in both the old and new being in the T5 and your PC. It is easy to fix, although aggravating.
Try right clicking the HotSync Manager icon in your toolbar and for the Contacts section make the handheld overwrite the desktop. I think it goes back to "sync" after you perform the sync, but you better double check my advice :)
it is possible but
if I well understood u wanna hot sync with ur laptop calendar and contact from ur Tungsten E, (that is having updated data from ur office computer).
you can in fact synchronize verything there with ur laptop, and make ur hand held over write ur whatever is in ur laptop, for this u need to install the PDS and go to the hotsync manager on ur system try, go to custom and and on the list of conduits go to contact and change the action to hh overwrite desktop, (do the same for calendar) DON"T FORGET TO CHECK THE OPTION : MAKE AS DEFAULT. U can of course disable the rest except the system conduit.
Never forget to set the conduits u change to set as defaults.
Like this, u must have always updated data on ur hand-held, for this, u need to keep synchronizing with ur office computer.
OK. Hope this helps you because it fixed my problem. Go into palm desktop. Go to hot sync, click on custom Go to Calendar (Outlook) and double click on that. At this point click on settings. Under conflict resolution choose "outlook wins". Then go out and check syncronize files and set as default. Click done and this should resolve the issue. Reply if this is confusing.
This is how I got it working. Don't use wireless sync software, someting is definitely buggy with it.
Here is what I did to resolve sync errors:
1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm
2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old.
3. Connect the Treo to your computer.
4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom.
Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld.
5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now
your t5 is UNSTABLE possibly due syncing to an old username from an old PDA.
To correct this:
-delete manually the doubles (PDS has a tool but none for outlook)
-perform hard reset on your t5
-hotsync - creating a new user name (do not use the old one)
-you will be asked to use the same profile name for the outlook
Then you should be good to go.
I tried all the suggestions that were offered and gave up. But then out of pure craziness I loaded the treo 600 CD that came with my Treo 600 out of curiosity. It loaded and the MS Office 2003 conduits loaded nicely and the problem appears to be solved for now.
So I tested and it the Tungsten E Hotsync's feature all appear to be okay. I'm not sure if this is the best solution but it solved a very frustrating problem.
The version of Hotsync that loaded is 4.1.0.
Hope this helps.
Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)
After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
