HP IPAQ 5555 1.10.13 ROM UPDATE

After I downloaded the latest ROM update, and a full cycle shutdown, the IPAQ powers up then displays a gray screen, and then after 2 minutes power down. I downloaded the HP Camera update and then IPAQ would not power up again. How do I reset it back or am I completely hosed ??

I thought my 5555 with 1.10.10 was the latest and most stable?? How come i didnt know about 1.10.13 ROM Update... Anyway, i think it is your Camera Update that causes it. But to confirm, which ROM are you using now? Go to "Start" >> Settings >> "Asset Viewer" >> Under Version >> check the ROM Revision. 1.10.10 had no major problems, only sometimes when i couldnt connect to my wireless router / bluetooth problems, but now it is okay, dun worry.

How to change in english language version? hp h4150

It should be possible to update the ROM to the english version.

You can download the update utility here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=349042&prodNameId=349044&swEnvOID=1087&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=PSG_I21908-106179
The support site also contains installation instructions. Please be 100% sure that this is the correct update for your model before doing anything as an incorrect ROM flash can damage or permanently prevent your iPAQ from working.

Tried to update the rom of my ipaq h1940 with the sp26261 update pack. plugged it into the cradle, started the update manager (connection via windows device center on windows 7/64 bit). the update manager...

bad Idea ROM updates.
best is to never do it unless sure it cures a problem that you need fixed.
doing Rom up dates are very risky,
1: battery must be good. and being charged so that the process can not be interrupted.
2: you used XP PC of some kind to program that IPAQ rom?>
that be last choice, of all. after all most XP computers are infected with virus and malware, and is a virus magnet and not support now for 3 long years, (means its worse every day)

why even use any IPAQ,
why not just buy some used Android phone and move on, move up.
its dead product now.
IPAQ is like Elvis, he left the building.. LOL

if really motivated to make any think this old here why not ask
the real form.
Your only recourse now, it repeat the flash over and over
praying it works (with full charged and fully good batterY)

IPAQ are obsolete, why mess with this old toy, buy a used smart phone.? and move on to the new world?

why not ask and HP.com and not here, this is not HP here.

why own any IPAQ, nobody does now. its OBSOLETE.

Hp ipaq hx4700 hp invent is on but unit will not power up

I had the same problem which showed the exact screen you're describing and was able to sort it by downloading the ROM update from the HP site - they show it only available for US but works fine on UK machines as well. It takes a short while to install but has restored mine back to normal again. (only problem was incompatability with windows vista - works fine with XP)

I can't install a certain HP update.

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Establish an Activesync connection between your iPAQ Pocket
PC and host PC.
3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
to install the Real Time Update.
4. Follow the instructions to perform a normal reset on the iPAQ Pocket PC.

on step 3 you should see the setup on your pdas screen do you see this?

Can't get pass the logo screen

OK, this happened to me just yesterday, and I fixed it. Here's what you need to do.

1. Connect your iPAQ to your PC. You don't need ActiveSync, but you do need to make sure that your PC can actually communicate with your iPAQ.

2. Go to where you extracted the ROM update files. It's probably at "C:\iPAQ\SP26263" or something like that.

3. Download a hex editor. Here's one: http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm#download

4. Use the hex editor and open up H2B11020uo.nbf

5. Maximize the hex editor to full screen. Look at the right screen where it says "hp ipaq h1940 1.10.20 ENG". Fill up the top row with zeros. The words "hp ipaq h1940 1.10.20 ENG" will disappear.

6. Within "C:\iPAQ\SP26263", open up ROMUpdateUtility. It won't recognize your device (WHICH IS GOOD). Then you can reinstall the ROM update.

Ipaq H4150

Have you used a Vista PC as the host machine? ROM updates can only be done from a Win XP or 2000.

Hook the iPaq to an Win XP or 2k PC, install active sync first, and then get the ROM update again. Run the Rom Update Utility and it will recognise the iPaq and will update it correctly. :)

You may be in need for a ROM update/reinstall. It is pretty easy to do that. You can either go at HP's web site and download a ROM update for your specific model. Make shure you select your operating sistem rigt. Or you can browse the internet for a specific ROM update for your model. I recomand the HP site, and if you have problems regarding the ROM update process, or the ROM and OS version you need, please reply here and I'll guide you throught. Good luck.
