Hi!
My F828 sometimes doesn't respond, and I see "cover open" message on the screen, when I'm about to shoot or to view my photos..It disappears after a few secs, with my enthusiasm and everything becomes normal again...
Anyone here having the same problem?
Or anyone who has an idea what's wrong with my camera?
Thanx....

Sorry, the DSC-F828 doesn't have a black&white mode. However, just about any photo editing program will have the ability to convert color photos to black&white. Doing so on a computer will give you much better control over things like brightness and contrast than you would get if you just let the camera do it.

Hello!
I experienced the same problem. I did not updated the firme ware because my F828 already came with latest version.
To view the firmeare information in your camera you must have the AC power adpater conected otherwise it wont show. This is all I know. From here I think you have only to follow the steps of SONY guide.
Hope I could help in any way.
As I understand,
And for what others have said in this forum, the answer is no.
I wanted to buy an Extreme III card, but there was an complete NO on this issue.
The point is... if there is no Sony device that can use 80X, why do they sell it?????
Regarding remote control, sorry to say but it's very limited. With RM-VD1 you can only:
ON/OFF
Shutter release 1st and 2nd step
Zoom in/out (except with F828 which has manual zoom)
Rec/Stop (only with a camcorder)
because you are (a) opening the lens aperture to let in the maximum light and (b) making the sensor more sensitive so that it requires less light, so the camera must do what it can to counter your settings - to reduce the light by minimizing the time of the exposure.
I presume this is a hypothetical question, as you don't normally want to use ISO this high with the F828 if it can be avoided.
