The only type of memory card that can be used with this camera is a smartmedia card. The max size for smartmedia is only 128mb. There is no way to adapt the camera to accept anything larger at this time due to the age of the camera.

How do i get my Olympus D560 to use an xD M+ memory card? I keep getting card error message.

Hi,

The Olympus compatibility chart on their website says that your camera works with type M and M+ sizes 256MB - 512MB.
The chart also says 256MB - 512MB for type H and 16MB - 512MB for standard xD cards.
It looks like the largest size xD you can use of any type is 512MB.
The D560 is quite an early digital camera and it is not unusual to have card size limitations.

Hi, Can't find 256 MB xd picture card for older camera?

Hi Mark,

I did some checking and found that another expert had a similar question on 10/2/08. According to kenshin99, the limit on the cards is 256mb but some have had luck with the 512mb cards.

I think your best place to find those would be on sites like eBay or Craigslist

Memory card

Hi!

Maximum memory size for your camera is 256MB (according to the manual). However, some users claim that the camera can support up to 512MB. To be safe, just use a 256MB card.

Good luck and have a nice day!

When I install a new Olympus XD 1 gig memory card in my Olympus Camedia C-50 camera it says card error with an exclamation point.

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is a 256mb card without the letters M or H in front of 256mb. The 1gb card is not compatible.

There is a link on the Olympus website page that allows you to send the camera in to one of the service centers to have the firmware in the camera upgraded to accept that larger memory card.

XD mem card max for olympus D-560 Zoom

I hope this helps, I called Olympus for the exact same reason. The tech told me that the highest for the older D560 was 512mb. The other DX cards are for the newer models (same name!) that are 3D etc. effects of the newer models.
