I have a Asus G73SW, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and a Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner Force Feedback Joystick for use in Microsoft Flight Simulator X I can only get drivers for Vista 64-bit and I get blue screen when I try to install it. I have also seen "You need the 64+bit version of DPInst.exe"

I did that before I tried here - and it still doesn't work

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2011

Yes one page that I can't remember.
But it was the driver or hardware which I unplugged.
I ran a repair automatically, but I still can't use the joystick - it isn't even visible in the flight simulator

Where should I get it from?
The driver that needs to be changed is:http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php...
    [Windows Vista 32 bits(x86) / 64 bits (x64)] 6.29 MB

You can find the 64 bit version of the dpinst.exe(driver package installer) in the latest windows driver kit. Install it and see if it resolves the problem. You can get it from the link below

Ok. Does this blue screen have an error message on it?

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2011

I do not need the entire page. I just need the error code and the first few lines of the error message. It would be impossible to troubleshoot without that.

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2011

I am asking for the error message not the file! You say that it shows a blue screen don't you see an error message on that?

I have 64 bit system. is ms flight simulator 2002 compatible with that?

MS Flight Simulator 2002 should be compatible with your 64 bit operating system.
It should, SHOULD, normally install.
If you have troubles running the program, I suggest right clicking on the shortcut and run it in XP SP2 compatibility mode. But, you shouldn't have to do that.

I have Windows 7 and MS Flight Sim X - what is the best joystick for this combination?

Really, that is completely up to the user. I have the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS joystick, and I like that. There are many joysticks out there that offer many different features as well as coming with rudder pedals as well. Really, the biggest factor on deciding comes down to how light you would like your wallet to be after purchase! :)

MCFS Joystick Problem

Make sure, that your Joystick is compatible with the version you are having problems with. If not, make sure that it's enabled in the configuration of MCFS. If none of those work, you will most likely have to purchase a more compatible Joystick.

Combat flight simulator wont recognize my sidewinder precision 2 joystick on vista but it did on xp?

I am farmiliar with most flight simulators and know that you have to go to settings on the main menu the controls and select joystick, enable joystick and/or calibrate joystick. If this doesn't wok then in gameplay push "alt" on your keyboard if the task bar for flight simulator isn't at the top. Once or if it is allready there select settings and then enable joystick. If this doesn't work then call or contact or google microsoft flight simulator.
